Post No. 100!

Wise words, Ron. And so they should be - I wrote 'em! From June last year:

"I just want to mention that self-plagiarism is an oxymoron. Plagiarism is the act of taking someone else's words and ideas and presenting them as your own. Therefore, if they're your ideas to start with, it's not plagiarism, it's repetition or self-quoting."

Ironic, no?!

Chris

Yes, but you don't hold the copyright!

I've been saying this for years and years...

Since we both pointed out this fallacy, the phrase "self-plagiarism" has cropped up at least once more on another thread, and clearly neither of us could be bothered to correct it.

It's as ridiculous as saying that you've committed suicide on another person.

We should both come down like a hundred of bricks on anyone who posts this in future....

Don't worry, sergioleone. I was half kidding. But thanks for the update on Illaramendi. He's great. I have yet to acquire his pirate score from a couple of years ago (that CRAB ISLAND thing).

La isla del cangrejo (crab island) is one of his finest scores... dont miss his new two-cd compilation that includes two previously unreleased scores for spanish movie SIN FIN and Argentina´s one Luna de Avellaneda

thats my review:

by the waY: in the spanish homage done for Spanish composers in the II Film Music Conference of Ubeda, master Basil Poledouris was amazed with the score for Son of the Bride.. so we gave him one of these 2 cd compilations...

By the way, I do hold the copyright on this now, Ron - so if you use those words again, you owe me.
