What are the chances nobody understood "less than"?
The question mark goes inside the quotation mark.
Americans seem to think that, but he's only quoting the words " less than". The question mark is part of his own sentence.
In American English, at least, a period always goes within the quotation marks, no matter the context. A question mark or exclamation can go outside, depending on whether it's part of the quote.
Quick question. I have the FSM release of Tora! Tora! Tora! - how significant is the sound upgrade on the LLL edition? Is it worth a re-purchase?
Chris.
This question has arisen a few times on a fairly lightweight basis because everyone seems to be unsure. Unless, that is, MM can zip the questioning once and for all. I got both CDs because the score has been salt and water to my being. I can't detect any real difference in the audio spectrum. Mike has said, I think, that he did some work to tie up some loose ends - what that means exactly I don't know. I can't remember if the LLL had the original tapes taken out of storage and re-run to create an updated digital image. If anything, the LLL having been re-tuned at a later date and on more recent equipment may have ever so slightly less muted sound. After all, we know what Mike has achieved as of late. It does say on LLL's website the score was re-released to coincide with the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor and I think that says quite a lot.
I've been checking the fluctuating value of the score at Amazon UK for a few years now and it never really seems to vary a great deal. But this is a very special war score and when the LLL release is gone, it won't surface as a CD again - you'd more than likely have to go with a download, which is probably more than adequate for most tastes except you and me.
