I'm really grateful to Intrada for their efforts to get this score released at our request. DuckTales definitely deserves a release as much as any other score out there. For whatever reason, keeping a work of art from people who love and appreciate it is wrong. Some things are worth persevering for and I wish that eventually whatever problem is being faced gets cleared and we get to see the album released.

Mr Paquet has pointed out to me that Newman's DuckTales: Treasure of the Lost Lamp is in the Danger Zone, only 100 copies left. Doubt they will last long.

It can't be in the Danger Zone if it's never been released. Maybe you are talking about the film score by a different composer; there's a thread for that.

OK, so now that a little time has taken some of the bite out of Roger's news, I guess I should mention that in my email correspondence with Ron Jones while I was still reeling, he told me not to give up, because corporations change all the time.

I hope he's right. It still boggles my mind that my Number One Holy Grail was *that close* to being fulfilled, but there was some stupid detail or stipulation that HAD to get in the way and cause the whole effort to get canceled; but after everything I've read around here and the Intrada board about people's Holy Grails and how fulfilling them tend to require miracles, I suppose that particular growing pain is a rite of passage for this community.

because corporations change all the time.

If it takes years for that to happen, there won't be any soundtrack CD market anymore. Sadly. 2022 perhaps? I do believe the clock is ticking.

Even if it drops digitally at some point I'd be happy to upload it directly into my cyber-brain.

I had no idea Canada were that far ahead of us Brits! smile

Given the Transformers vinyls sold out at Enjoy The Records in three minutes, and at Thinkgeek in 24 hours, I wonder if Disney might be persuaded to give a rethink to releasing the DuckTales music. OK, Transformers is a much more popular market, but it is food for thought. Perhaps a 'best of' single disc release rather than a boxset might be more attractive to the powers that be?

Well, we don't know what the "problem" is, exactly.
My best guess would be because of the new show, they don't want anything related to the old show out right now... because...

the new show is the thing!
It isn't your feathers, err, father's DuckTales.

I could be wrong but I don't think Disney ever really cared for their "old" TV animated stuff.

I know I'm desperate enough that any release, even just a one-disc "best of" would be welcome. Of course, I know myself too well, and I recognize that that would end up being torture to me unless I knew future volumes were forthcoming. Hypothetically, I could be sitting there basking in "The Wooly Walrus's Rampage" in all its isolated glory, but that would make me ache even worse for a second disc with, say, "Invasion Of The Bin Snatchers!" or "The Temple Of Aphroducke".

the new show is the thing!

It isn't DuckTales AT ALL in my book. The characters are imposters, the animation is an insult to the original, the tone is completely different (goodbye, innocent childlike whimsy and hello, snarky cynicism) and the music is "just there". Even worse, the Internet has built a shrine to it and believes it's above reproach, and anybody who dares defend the original must be burned at the stake.

Well, we don't know what the "problem" is, exactly.

That's my guess too. Just another reason for me to bear an unhealthy death-grudge against the reboot. On the bright side, maybe that means that after this abomination masquerading as DuckTales has run its two-season course, Disney will finally give Intrada the go-ahead?

Just remembering how close this was this time last year. Can't really light a candle here, so this is all I've got. Still very grateful that attempts were made to get this one released. Still hopeful that it will become a reality one day.

You guys go ahead and light your quiet, dignified candles. Me, I'm still in the middle of my less-dignified impression of the "sea monster ate my ice cream" scene from the original series.

I kid, I kid. I'm personally a lot more hopeful now than I was this time last year. We did finally get Disney to release the fourth and final DVD volume of the original series, Disney Movie Club exclusive though it may be.

Don't worry, he did get his 'ice cream' back... perhaps we will one day, too.

#WhyILoveDuckTales is trending on Twitter today - if you use the platform, tweet, or *ahem* quack some love for Ron Jones' score. Please use that hashtag in your 'quack'.

Goddamn, how many trendy buggers there are hashtagging it...

"#WhyILoveDuckTales It's a reboot that just OOZES with love for the source material (and the source material's source material.) The characters have been reimagined to give them more personality AND we get characters we've never seen. and, it's about family. wholesome fun "

Reimagined, yet "oozes" with love for the source material and the comics... even though it's barely like either...

Naturally, the moment the production stops, all these buggers will bugger off to some other franchise and suck the very soul out of it by supporting its crummy reboot as, hey, it's trending - therefore it's good.. sigh...

And the fact that much of them are shipper filth... oof, that especially pisses me off. Bunch degenerates.
