I already have the First edition of BTAS but I'll grab both volumes on July 19th.
I hope there will be a special price for those who order both!

Okay so the Batman scores are definitely coming home with me as I said, but I'm a huge Hans Zimmer fan. Any thoughts on the Black Rain score folks? Guess I got some investigating to do.

Given that many other titles have been re-pressed largely unchanged by now, it only makes sense that the choice to release this one with a few tracks missing was contractual. I'm sure they would have simply re-pressed it if they could have.

Also, given that the first track is a suite which includes some tracks that are heard on the album anyway, you could argue that this cuts down on repetition (although on the downside it does mean the Batgirl theme is now left off Vol. 1, as it doesn't appear otherwise).

Another Comic titles - I'm happy for everyone who find their titles, but I will tell 'Pass' to almost all aforesaid.
Maybe I will get Phantom, maybe not - I don't know that will happen with my job & financial position, so I will wait for FSM #248, and Phantom samples, of course.
But I am very intrigued with upcoming BODYGUARD - is it possible that John Barry's rejected score will be release too (as in case with Golden Child)?

Hope that answers your questions!

Yeah, thanks. I only watched the first season or so of the show. Didn't meant to trample on any particular composer. If anything, I may just get vol1 and call it good.

I find it funny that people will call MV lazy for re-releasing a 2 disc set when there's a frickin' 4 disc set of new material to discover.

I on the other hand will call him lazy for not dressing up in a batman suit for comic con.

BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES: VOL 1 (Second Edition)

Back by popular demand, La-La Land has re-issued its 2008 sold-out title for the legions of BTAS fans who missed out on this dynamite release’s initial debut. This “second edition” re-issue is virtually identical to the 2008 version, except the bonus tracks “Gotham City Overture” and “Music of the Bat” have been removed to preserve the integrity of the initial release. Get it before it sells out – again! Limited Edition of 5000 Units.
Comic Con price $25

Personally I think the better solution would have been to release Vol. 1 not as 2CD-Set but as two 1CDs which could be bought seperately (Vol. 1.1. and Vol 1.2.). This way it would have been possible to preserve the integrity of the initial release and not to remove any tracks...

I can't wait to get my hands on X2, Phantom and TAS2. I've been listening to Volume 1 today in celebration! I do wonder if Water Tower allowing more Batman music to be released means the issues with Batman & Robin can be sorted out.

Someone from LLL has to, they are truly the label of the Bat!

Batman (1966)
Batman
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
Batman: TAS Vol 1
Batman: TAS Vol 2
Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm (forgot this at first)
Batman: Gotham Knight

All of which I am extremely grateful for.

Now for their next magic tricks it would be amazing if they could deliver:

Batman: The Brave and the Bold
Batman & Robin
Batman (1966 TV)

Um ...

Oh yeah Superman: TAS smile

One can dream.

[Edit]
While its a shame that the Music of the Bat track (it really is fascinating, esp how easily she segues between the animated music and the movie theme) and Gotham City Overture are missing, I think its great that others are now getting a second chance at owning this great album.

If you don't like that LLL have given you this second chance, sans those two tracks, then surely the answer is either go without or wait till its available on the secondary market for a more sensible price once the 2nd Edition is out.

I`ll definetely get THE PHANTOM. Great news. Maybe X2 by Ottman (I will give the original release a listen first though. Haven`t heard that one in years). I won`t by the 2 Batman releases. The orchestra is too small-television-size for me. I am happy with Shirley Walker`s MASK OF THE PHANTASM from LaLaLand. I`d rather listen to that than very similar scores with a 25 piece orchestra.

And the upcomming BODYGUARD will be ordered as well. One of my favorite Silvestri scores.

Odd isn't it, that when someone says they don't like the work of one of your designers, as Spymaster did only yesterday (by the way I have no opinion one way or the other about the artist concerned), not only do you call him a "douche bag" with apparent impunity, but he gets a volume of rebuke from the Moderator. Yet you repeatedly calling Varese/Townson "lazy" in various threads is ok here. Like I said, odd.

Mmmmm... no comment.

Still...

I love The Phantom so I'll probably get that. I don't like X2 so probably won't get that. I haven't decided about BTAS volume 2 yet.

I do respect their stance on the limited edition model.

That's all.

.... They have something special. They have something that truly is a Limited Edition of 3000 units.

To change the artwork or improve the sound or add extra tracks to this second volume would be, more or less, a spit in the face of those original 3000.

I have too much respect for my customers, my product and my word as a business man. Limited edition means limited edition. 'Nuff said. smile

Oh, I am so touched. By the way do you respect *so much* your customers when decreasing prices for CDs that other customers paid fully? Oh, you have too much respect for your customers? Really? What a nice hypocrisy.

Limited is limited? roll eyes Hey tralla-la land, I buy CDs because I want the music, not because they are limited. Stop with these insanities please!!!

OMG OMG OMG!! Thank you La-La Land Records for the release of vol.2 of the Batman TAS. This truly is the most amazing release I have ever encountered in my entire life and truly, deeply makes me a happy fellow. I'm almost crying tears of joy.

This music means so much to me, it's rather hard to explain in words. Possibly the inclusion of "Appointment in Crime Alley" is what makes this even more amazing. The score for this episode is a bona fide masterpiece!

I know I seem overly giddy....sorry...I just can't help myself.

Decreasing prices gives access to some customers to some scores they didn't have enough money to buy when they were released, or to discover "little" scores they didn't want to pay full price.
And LLL frequently sells "packages" decreasing the price of an old CD when you buy a new one related to it. I'm pretty sure they'll do it again with ST TNG when ST DSN will be released.
Why didn't they do it for BATMAN TAS VOL. 1 with the VOL. 2 ? Well, VOL. 1 is sold out.
Some customers paid high prices for VOL. 1 because they missed it when it was released and LLL doesn't want to spit in their face.
And they don't want to spit in the face of those who bought it at a normal price because, doing that, they trusted the label.
Re-releasing BATMAN TAS is a perfect mix between respect for the old customers who trust the label since years and doing business, because, yes, a film music label is also a business, in case you don't know.

The Bodyguard and Black Rain?

Awesome. I love the Black Rain suite... be interesting to hear a fuller score.

I recommend to anyone who is a fan of Silvestri`s pounding nobility (PREDATOR, Beowulf (minus gi-tar...)) to have a listen to The Bodyguard: its an excellent work, though from the title you might not think it.

I am *never* going to get this VISA down...

Great releases!

BTW, did anyone ever notice that the vocal sample heard in the first track of The Phantom is the same one used by Williams for his A.I. score track The Moon Rising (during the techno bit)?

BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES: VOL 2 (4-CD SET)
Comic Con price $60

I assume this is a special price just for the con, and that the price on LLL's website after ComicCon will be higher? If so, damn! No way I'll be able to spend that much for it. frown

It's actually 2 cents more at Comic con.

Regular retail price is $59.98
