Oh, that's brilliant!

Regarding the special announcement. I guess the next release is the one where the proceeds are going to charity?

No, that's still forthcoming...or not.

Its complicated and cannot be discussed officially. Don't ask lol

Well they didn’t originally want to give away the next release date so your little stapler gif might be on target. That would be SWEET!

The first rule of Alien 3 is "Do Not Tease About Alien 3"
The second rule of Alien 3 is "DO NOT TEASE ABOUT ALIEN 3"

As it's about as near the top of my most wanted expansions as it's possible to get and I have resigned myself that it is unlikely ever to happen.

Brilliant gif by the way.

If this is what I think it is, I’m incredibly curious about how that managed to present it, if it is any different from the original score album. Everything I’ve heard paints an ‘end of the world’ scenario regarding an expanded release.

Oh my god. If it is Alien 3 I will die of shock, resurrect, die again, and then crawl back with my credit card in hand as soon as it goes on sale eek

"Expensive month"?

Do androids dream of an Electric ALIEN Quadrilogy set?

If it is ALIEN3, what form will it take?

• Re-release of the original album
• Expanded release
• Re-recording

I fear a re-release is the most likely, especially considering the other 20th Century Fox sci-fi film ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still’ was so recent. This may be how they’ll be tackling titles that are impossible to expand before the Fox/Disney merger.

A re-recording would seem unlikely, but not impossible.

An expanded release is without a doubt the holy grail of a lot of users on this forum, including myself. And even if it is, the question will be where they found the sources to expand it. Will it be like their Die Hard release where they Frankensteined a lot of the tracks, or take the music from Stems like Star Trek The Animated Series?

So many questions!

Even a re-release of the original album would be welcome at this point, especially if it's remastered. Goldenthal himself has remarked that the score suffered from "bad sound"--though he may have been referring to how it was mixed in the film.

Was there any room for Day the Earth Stood Still to be expanded ?
It's basically a re-release of the Kritzerland which as far as I understand is as complete as it can be and it sounds georgeous. No room for improvement there.

*IF* it is Alien 3 (you may well see a grown man cry if it is) then I expect it to be properly expanded - not just a re-release of the OST. This is LLL after all.

MV's last comment on Alien 3 was in February last year:

"Its not a composer issue, its an element issue. Perhaps the composer has something. If so, its then an issue of securing album rights from the label, then additional track rights with the studio and then dealing with the possibility that the composer may want to release it on his own label. Some times deals can complicate dream releases. Look no futher than Excalibur and Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai, just to name two."

Martin, La La Land's 'The Day the Earth Stood' being a re-release is not an issue. I bought that recent release for the same reason I'll buy an album re-release of ALIEN3 if this release turns out to be it. Because I missed out on the first one. I certainly didn't buy La La Land's release of TDTESS for it's spine art, hence why I was completely fine skipping Intrada's re-release of Star Trek V's re-release.

The alien GIF (which is hilarious!) didn't originate with MV but with ryanpaquet, so I'm not sure why people are suddenly so convinced the release is Alien³.

I mean, it certainly could be, but what am I missing?

(If it is, I'd like to point out that just ten days ago, I mentioned Alien³ on the "La La Land/MV Questions Thread." And even though I was in no way making a prediction when I mentioned it, I still think I would deserve credit for getting it right.)

From La-La Land's official twitter post.

Our next release has a special release date of 4-26-18. We'll post the official announcement here and on our Facebook page 12pm (pst) next Thursday!

The official alien twitter account, https://twitter.com/AlienAnthology lists 04.26.18 as #alienday. The reason it's this particular date is because April 26th is also the numerical portion of LV-426, the designation of the planet where the alien derelict ship was discovered and the Hadley's Hope colony was established.

And as far as I can recall, La-La Land has never regarded their announcement date of a product as being 'special' in and of itself. It's reasonable to conclude that they're releasing a product that ties in with #alienday.

Alternatively, it could be a reissue of their Resurrection release, but would a reissue count as "very special"?

This link says that Fox is promoting the entire series on 4/26.

Given it's the "Last Dance" for Fox and ALIEN before Disney pulls a Borg move...Could it be an Alien box? IT would be an expensive month indeed.

Last year, Goldenthal's official twitter account said he was working on a vinyl release of Alien 3. Does LLL still do vinyl?

The expensive month crack no longer applies. We had planned 3 to 4 other releases this month (one was for record store day) but it didn't happen, so just ignore that comment I made.

I think MV said, vinyl was put on the back-burner. More to do with the waiting time to get these things produced because everyone's sister, uncle and mistress are in on the vinyl craze and pressing plants are backlogged. Though I'm not sure their vinyl releases have done well. Though I suspect ST:TMP did well. But I'm speculating now.

We have vinyl in the works. It's been forced on us. Lol. In order to get some CD deals we have to agree to do some vinyl runs as well. Nature of the business nowadays
