Great! That sounds fine for a 2 CD release.

Not that thrilled, to be honest. As previously noted, I had hoped for Zimmer to go old-school synth (given the timeframe of the movie) with some cool analogue tech. More in synthwave territory, alternatively some great 90s power anthems. But this is more the kind of contemporary superhero stuff we've heard from him in recent years. It's all very dense; with endless pounding ostinati and a rather shrill, cheap brass sample.

Hopefully, there are better cues on the rest of the soundtrack than those two that have been released thus far.

Don't expect Zimmer go synth, is fully orchestral this time.

This time, not, is full orchestral 2000s Zimmer, with few synths.

Yeah, I got that. But I'm constantly wishing for Zimmer to do more old school synths in his scores. I was speaking more generally.

Probably in Top Gun next year. As for WW84 I don't mind the more orchestral approach but I won't be surprised if we get one or two synth flavoured tracks as well.

Return to the early 2000'. Symphonic glory.

Yes. I'll take this anyday. I have no issue with synth scores though.

BTW, I don't think Top Gun is going to be a purely synth score. Zimmer said they hired a studio orchestra for the score.

To be honest I prefer old school orchestral Zimmer than another synthwave score, so really hope that this album will be close to his 2000s or 90s works.

Is REALLY close to the most orchestral Zimmer than the most experimental Zimmer.

Actually, very gorgeous last three tracks, specially Lost and Found, god, the most emotional romantic Zimmer ever heard in long time, and the villains theme, for Maxwell Lord gets a really good variation in Anything You Want, although the Cheetah's theme is more a simplistic version of the Kraken's material from Dead Man's Chest.

And not forget the action tracks, specially Radio Waves, really, really cool.

My only gripe is the theme, i'm with the people who prefer the version appeared in BvS and WW, than in this one.

Best cue of the Year: 1984.

I'm very rarely thrilled with Zimmer that is predominantly orchestral (there are exceptions, like HOUSE OF THE SPIRITS and FOOLS OF FORTUNE); that's not where his strenght lies. But presumably, a track called "1984" MUST have some synths, right? If not, it's a robbery! wink

By the way, listening to REBUILDING PARADISE now, which he did with Balfe this year. That's quite good!

Nop

And Rebuilding Paradise was for me quite dissapointing, i prefer Hillbilly Elegy.

First listen, and for me WW84 is Zimmer's best score since Man of Steel and Rush. If you loved Gladiator, King Arthur, POTC3, you'll probably fall in love with many of the tracks.

Oh yes. The first 2'30" reminds me JNH's work in the 90's. Can't stop listening to it.
