I had to take my CDs off the shelf because we were having a new massage table installed in our bedroom over the weekend. A bunch of them fell over when I went to swap out the power strip for the baby oil warmer, and I had to gather them up. When I got to my autographed copy of "Snow Flower And The Secret Fan," there the name was staring me straight in the face, albeit buried deep in the orchestrator credits.
1987' Aston Martin V8 Vantage from "The Living Daylights" will be in Bond 25 also The car used to filming in Norway last friday also had the same B549 WUU number plate registration.
Another composer who could contribute an interesting score - AND is also flavour of the month at present - is Benjamin Wallfisch. He's classically trained, been perverted by Remote Control and also really tapped into that John Barry/British sound with his recent score to KING OF THIEVES.
Wha? Ooookay...I'll try and keep an open mind, I guess.
I really wanted Arnold (preferably with an Arnold-penned song) one last time, for Craig's final outing...to bring things full circle with Casino Royale.
I predict this will end up not only a controversial pick, but a controversial score, a la Eric Serra...

Oh brother. I'll try not to be too hyperbolic in my reaction, but all the buzz words in that article now have me anticipating a bland "thumps and drones" electronic score. I mean, "offbeat, eclectic"? A "percussive tension and synth sense of unease" in Romer's music for the TV show Ramy? And I saw Beasts of No Nation and can only barely recall a vaguely synth wash over the film. At least Eric Serra provided a rapturous love theme for Goldeneye that attempted to approach a Barry feel, but now I'm just expecting nothing better than what's heard on a CBS crime drama.
And in looking at his bio on imdb.com, Romer is much more of a pop music guy, being singer/guitarist in a band, a music producer for other pop artists and a "multi-instrumentalist" Again, I'll try not to pre-judge since Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead has provided some stunning orchestral music for films, but gee whiz, this just seems to fly in the face of strong composer backgrounds for the James Bond films.
