@stephen woolston why are you willing to pay fees and "ransoms", ending up to $100 (probably more), when Music Box has it on pre-order for 44,95 EUR, european shipping instead of transatlantic, and no custom fees (at least, not until your country's happy departure from the EU march 29th) ? Wow, Music Box is doing Superman plus Archer for just EUR 44.95 including international postage? Wow, I had no idea. So Superman alone must be, what, EUR 25? Archer EUR 10? then EUR 10 postage?

Aw dang it. I just checked and it turned out you're wrong. Superman plus Archer from Music Box will be EUR 86 including shipping, which is about $98. Cheers

@mr. woolston really no need to be sarcastic, I just wanted to be helpful. I never wrote it was 44,95 EUR "including" shipping. And we were talking about Supeman, not a big Superman-Archer bundle. If you can exactly pre-determine how taxes and fees are, and conclude that in trhe end is it's better to order from the US, go for it. I doubt it, but whatever. It's good that you're so willing to pay custom fees: if everything goes well, in a near future you'll have to pay them for everything, from everywhere. Cheers to you. too. I'm sorry, you're right I was sarcastic and that was uncalled for. Please forgive me. Your intentions were good. It's just that I've been round this loop a few times and when you do the maths it actually works out about the same, but with the pro that you might get it a bit quicker when you order direct from La-La. Cheers

Mike, my personal congratulations on the umpteenth--and definitive--upcoming issue of the SUPERMAN soundtrack that will be the best sounding incarnation I have heard, after hearing samples of it yesterday on the LaLaLand site. Years ago I got the old Rhino CD, which was a landmark in itself, and still is today. And here we are now and I have decided to support you in buying this new release. It is something that will now add to my SUPERMAN collection (after the theatrical version 4K I bought last year, the TV version on blu ray from a couple of years ago, my Superman Tin Set on DVD (which is showing some rot), the laserdisc, and Anchor Bay's SUPERGIRL collectors edition DVD). I heard your latest podcast today on one of the John Williams fan sites, and that convinced me to buy this new disc. Congratulations on your work on the new disc, and I look forward to hearing it when I get it in the mail. This is one CD I will not sell on eBay! Oh, and I still have the original Warner Bros. CD (warts and all, with the two tracks missing).

Usually I always order from the US. Whenever I’ve done the calculation it works out very similar to ordering from the EU. Funnily enough, the UK used to have a much higher personal import allowance, until forced by the EU to reduce it. Paying the VAT on imports really isn’t an issue for me. The biggest issue is the Royal Mail handling fee - that’s the most expensive part. Fortunately, for all the parcels I buy from the US only a couple a year get caught by customs. When/if we leave the EU, we will still have a personal import allowance, it’ll just be up to the UK government what limit it is set to, not the EU. Unless the government change that, there will be no difference for importing from the US. Anyway, looking forward to Superman arriving. I have the Blue Box for everything else Superman, but this seems like a nice upgrade.

Just so you know customs fees are nothing to do with not being a member of the EU. These are fees that postal services can charge, routinely called administration fees. Buying from the EU can incur these fees in exactly the same way. I’ve been there many times. Buying from France, Germany and Spain. Not so, it's got everything to do with the EU. Within the EU, you can ship goods back and forth as you see fit and there are no custom fees. That's why it's a custom union, among other things. A few minor restrictions, like for tobacco and alcohol, apply, but even they are comparatively small and other than that: no custom fees. Where do you get the idea that there are custom fees between Germany, France and Spain?
