It's been awhile since I've listened to the VS release.. but I don't see how 'Halls' is any different, or 'new' music

"Halls" on the Varese CD was 2 minutes long. "Halls" on the Sony edition is 2:30, because it contains "Halls" as well as another cue, one that wasn't on the Varese CD.

Not making a comparison, I don't hear anything new. I wonder why they included this, when there are (as I recall) four cues on the CD not on the Varese Club release.

The boot also had a cue that is on this new Sony release. And, when I say "boot", I refer to what I had. But there were three versions.
The boot had 3 cues that weren't on the Varese but are now on the Sony - the 12th Floor cue, the revised version of Stairwell, and the unused "Mr Stay Puft" cue. The hotel source music and restaurant source music are now the only things on the boot not on either CD, unless you care about a minute of an alternate take of the Zuul cue.

Great comparison, thank you for sharing! It seems like the unreleased music I was most interested in getting again will evade this release; the 'March' version of a portion of 'Marshmallow Terror' that's used when the Ghostbusters attack Gozer. I was also hoping to hear the creepy string arrangement that's played, and in some cases dubbed over parts of the film: The aforementioned Gozer attack scene, when Dana opens her Fridge and hears "ZUUL", and when Dana's apartment explodes. I am excited that this wonderful score will see another release. I just hope one day LLL can get their hands on it and do things the right way.

Maybe those creepy string overlays were done by someone else, not by Bernstein?

Because whoever Sony hired to assemble this program isn't as good at is as Mike Matessino or Neil Bulk, I guess

Maybe those creepy string overlays were done by someone else, not by Bernstein? Good point as it's never appeared on any of the bootlegs (neither has the March music)

Okay, why can't I play these Vevo embeds? For both these GB tracks and MIB INTERNATIONAL, they cut out after 5 seconds.

Well I can say having heard the whole new Sony release, I prefer the sound on it. More natural. I concur! Superb sounding release. More open and more detailed than the Varese. Might be my imagination but sounds slightly more dynamic too. Very pleased! SUCH a great score! I hope Peter Bernstein is asked to score the new sequel. The ondes martenot needs to feature too - it provides so much of the atmosphere in the film. Despite the missing tracks and still unreleased cues, I'm very excited to hear the reviews of how well this release sounds. Mine will arrive today, so I'll give a listen tonight.. excited to hear it!
