To Loren, Have you watched "Noon Wine"? If yes, what about the music? Thanks. Yes I have. NOON WINE is a fantastic score, very original too (though short, about 25 min). If we wanted to find similarities between NW and SHANE (or THE WILD BUNCH) we would be disappointed. Anyway we can find NW's mood ten years later in ALFREDO GARCIA or farther in MR. HORN. NW is almost work for chamber ensemble with a lot of solos for harmonica, oboe, clarinet (and piano). For instance the harmonica played by the stranger has a key role, both as source music and pure score, a trick which eventually became very famous in Morricone's MAN WITH THE HARMONICA in ONCE UPON A TIME... Personally I love sweet and poignant tracks like the two "Work Montage" and the first part of "Helton shakes Kids" and of course the short and beautiful Title Music, as intimate as Bernstein in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD or as Goldsmith in LILIES OF THE FIELD. But in this score there is also atonal and robust Fielding played by organ and percussions like in Helton's run. Peckinpah, couldn't find a better composer than Fielding in order to get fulfilled his request for this western drama. So, no wonder - after his former horrible experience with Amfitheatrof - that Sam would call Jerry for his next western. Interesting overview of "Noon Wine". Thanks again. 1. In your opinion, what will be the ideal companion to pair with "Noon Wine" as a double header--both scores will be premiere edition? 2. Apart from "Shane" and the Desilu scores, is there any other series that anticipate "The Wild Bunch"?

One little question remains: Have the tapes for Noon Wine survived? ...and: Will there ever be a DVD for Noon Wine??? Somehow I don't think any elements survived. For many years the only known copy of the show itself was a 16mm print that Jason Robards had. That has subsequently changed, but it they didn't save the show, I can't imagine them saving the music unless Jerry held onto it.

YOR listened to this score top to bottom and must say... it is not his cup of tea. Too bland and minimalist for his taste. Not to mention that most of the tracks are just... mexican source music! It may be original, but still... Please, do not hate YOR...

I don't hate you, YOR. Maybe this one wouldn't have been to my taste either. But King Kong... I just placed my order. No way in hell I am missing that one. Yes, and you have only 4 years to listen to it!!! So, run!!!
