On the wishlist ... so far, I believe, there's only a couple of tracks from Charley V on the My Life In Music box.

First lot for the box set. I managed to download this but quality isn't great so I made a new one.

Has anyone had a go at covers for the individual scores on the 'Fuller at Fox' set from Kritzerland? They are 'Hell and High Water', 'Pickup on South Street' and 'House of Bamboo'. I know there's an Intrada cover available for each but I'd love something bespoke.

What programs are people using to create these great covers? I'd love to give it a go myself but don't really know where to start.

You either invest $$$ in Adobe Photoshop or use the "Free & Open Source Image Editor" GIMP: https://www.gimp.org/.

At least that's what I'm suggesting (and using) (and thinking it's quite an alternative). Curious what others do...

As mentioned somewhere earlier in this thread, I use a combination of Adobe PhotoDeluxe (art, layout and clean up), MS Word (text generation) and Adobe PDF / IrfanView (text scaling).

I wish I knew how to use GIMP or Photoshop, but they're waaayyyyy above my skill level. smile

Raferjanders, have you by any chance made any covers for Studs Lonigan? I don't like the Varese cover too much, and can't find a decent size scan of the Kritzerland.

I just use the simple approach, a PC with Microsoft Paint, which is why my covers are not as professional as raferjanders.

I can only make simple covers anything else I leave to the experts.

Nice Last Jedi cover, Chris. In case you want to revisit it, the font used for the subtitle (Last Jedi) is ITC Serif Gothic. smile

Attention cover fans: Heidl has posted some a-mazing alternate covers for Rogue One, including an incredible one that homages the LLL Empire of the Sun cover art!

Adobe Photoshop is now a f'ing "subscription only" service program! You have to pay a monthly fee to use it, like a cable subscription. I have the last version of Photoshop which can be use in perp. I worry about every OS upgrade because sooner or later my version of Photoshop won't be capable with the new system.

The other option is "Photoshop Elements". It's Photoshop "lite", but has most of the same features you would need. I believe that's still a straight "one time" purchase, and you can use it in perp. And it costs a lot less!

I could revisit it except I don't have ITC Serif Gothic on my computer. As I've mentioned before, I'm very limited as to what I can achieve, although I was reasonably pleased with my new Out of Africa, all things considered it came out quite well.

It was actually not Kritzerland -- it was Quartet's first Goldsmith release. Here it is (I do prefer the cover to the Varese myself): http://www.quartetrecords.com/media/catalog/product/cache/4/image/500x/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/s/t/studs_lonigan_1.jpg

It's still only 500x500 because that's what Quartet supplies though...so maybe raferjanders would still like to tackle his own (larger) one.

One I've been wanting for a while is Da by Elmer Bernstein. It filled out a Varese disc of his music with My Left Foot. Varese designed a new My Left Foot cover (without Da being mentioned at the bottom) which they use for iTunes but there has never been a standalone cover for Da.

I use GIMP - best free program out there.
Studs Lonigan - think I prefer the Varese to the Quartet, just a shame these labels don't provide at least a 1000x1000 sized cover. Finding decent artwork for that title is difficult, and there seems to be nothing useable for Da unfortunately. My Left Foot yes - I haven't seen the iTunes version, any good?

The others should be along soon smile
