Another delay - the movie has been delayed in Australia and New Zealand (these two countries only, AT NOW) frown

You are really hung up on this movie and score, aren't you...?! My daughters (ages 11 and 9) and I have been watching all the Bond movies chronologically the last couple of months and tonight we're gonna watch 'Casino Royale' so hopefully we'll be ready by the time No Time to Die hits theatres (if ever...).

Makes sense to delay it so it opens closer to their summer, hopefully that will help.

I still have my doubts that we will see it here in the US on the current announced date, we shall see.

News about the World Premiere at RAH seems to be the confirmation that the movie will be released in theaters this September and October (EU, UK, US), and not postponed once again as some had feared.

Aside from a few regional delays, it looks like EON has no choice but to release NTTD as planned next month. They're going to struggle to show a significant profit on this one. I'm content to wait for the blu-ray.

Perhaps, but announcing a premiere is standard, they announced a premiere at Royal Albert Hall before the original release date as well.

It's definitely confirmation that they WANT to release the film. We'll see whether it actually happens.

More on the official press release by Universal Pictures - https://www.007.com/no-time-to-die-world-premiere/

"No Time To Die" will release in the UK and Ireland from 30 September 2021 through Universal Pictures International and in the U.S on 8 October through MGM via their United Artists Releasing banner.

The movie won't be delay again! cool

We shall see... The last time there was an abandoned release date, they were full steam ahead, dropping promotional videos and such, until only weeks before it changed.

They're going to have to decide if they bite the bullet and release it now, with the current anemic box office, and end up with one of the biggest money-losing movies of all time, or if they hold it and accrue more debt from interest, and hope for some future date when the financial loss may be slightly less.

https://www.boxofficemojo.com/year/world/

2021 box office has been a fraction of what's normal, only one Hollywood movie has broken $500 million worldwide. Reports are that Bond needs to gross nearly $1 billion just to break even. The biggest Hollywood movie of the year was Fast 9, which still only did $700 million, about half of what those movies usually do, and it came out earlier in the summer, when there was less worry about the Delta variant. The last Bond did about $900 million worldwide, in a normal world. It's plausible to see this one doing maybe only $400 to $500 million if it comes out in a month. That would be a loss of hundreds of millions of dollars.

At this point, announcing a premiere would not have been necessary if they still were uncertain.

The decision is made: they know it will not make the kind of money they were hoping for. It is just not feasible to delay again.

I think even with NO restrictions - so many of the population have been terrified enough that they wouldn't even contemplate going to a theater/cinema without masks and social distancing. So the box office take will be down anyway.

And if some governments around the world bring in so-called vaxx passports as a condition of entry, then that reduces it even further. That would include me.

So I agree, it may be a case of cutting losses. I think the TV and DVD rights have already been agreed so I wouldn't know the legalities of letting the likes of Netflix show it, or Amazon Prime - like they did with WW84. But that wouldn't bring in much revenue.

Plus Eon Productions are nursing a heavy loss after "The Rhythm Section" failed at the box office.

Sad times for all.

I suspect it will open to a strong weekend and first week but then tail off significantly as older people decide to give it a miss.

The Rhythm Section was an embarrassing financial catastrophe, but it was financed by Global Road, which no longer exists, and then Paramount bought the distribution rights in almost every territory and paid for P & A. EON produced it, but since they didn't finance it, I don't know how much money, if any, they actually lost on it.

EON forbade MGM to sell Bond to streamers once word leaked in the trades. WW84 was able to premiere on HBOMax because Warners owns that streamer. MGM doesn't own a streamer, and their Amazon deal is far from finalized, so they're stuck releasing it conventionally, whenever it comes out.

Yep, but it'll also be only a strong COVID-era opening weekend, which will still be a fraction of a pre-pandemic opening weekend. MGM is going to lose a fortune on the film, there's no way around it.

If it flops Im going to proclaim it is due to Daniel Craig being a bit shit as 007. That isn’t the actual reason of course (although he is terrible) but it will fit my agenda so I’m sticking with it!
