Oh scheisse! I havent even finished watching season 2 yet cause the show is soooooooo bad! lol!

But the score is actually fun. At least the season 1 score. Guess I'll have to force myself to finish the season now...

Batwoman must be truly bad if you need to switch to german to describe the show smile

I really liked the the S1 score. Especially the first three suites. Lots of good stuff there. S2 is also quite good so far (currently listening to track 3).

I finally started seperating the last two Arrow Soundtracks, just finished S7 with your cue list & titles acathla, and this is it:

Is this at least kinda correct? Because I don't understand from which track you got "Something To Believe In" and I also don't get what you did with the Emiko suite. But the other cue lengths are kinda matching up so it can't be that wrong...

I havent seen or listened to Gotham, but thats a shame if its only on spotify...weird
Agree. Very weird. If it was ever out there (cd or digital download) it was very brief. Its only a little over a year later from release date of August 2020.

Rereading press release it was released by composer for streaming and digital download. Maybe issue with a studio?

Press release available can be found at https://filmmusicreporter.com/2020/08/05/gotham-season-2-3-4-5-soundtrack-albums-released/

Composer confirmed. It was yanked by Water Tower.

Thats a shame! Specially when they had even announced it with tracklists etc. :O

EDIT: I see now that at his web page you can actually listen to and even download season 4 and 5 albums for free! smile
Looks like its not the same albums as announced though

Can you provide a link to that area of his web page? I don’t see it.

Here you go!

Season 4:
https://davidrussomusic.bandcamp.com/album/gotham-season-4-original-soundtrack

Season 5:
https://davidrussomusic.bandcamp.com/album/gotham-season-5-original-soundtrack

Maybe we’ll get lucky and a release season two and three.

I think the free download was basically him saying I want to get this music out there. They were going to release it. Here you go

This looks very correct sir! Except...

"Something To Believe In" is the final part of "Inmate 4587". From 02:30 - end.
"Two Reasons" is the first half of "Unable To Protect My Family".
Both tracks are from the same episode (episode 1) but the cues inside the suites is not in chronological order.

So to sum up the first two official tracks (cause I know this is confusing! lol!):

INMATE 4587
Inmate 4587 / Robert Queen / Something To Believe In

UNABLE TO PROTECT MY FAMILY
Two Reasons / Unable To Protect My Family

DIAZ PLOTS TO TAKE FELICITY is also from the first episode.

The chronological order of these different cues is:

Inmate 4587 (1:42)
Two Reasons (1:09)
Robert Queen (0:49)
Something To Believe In (1:38)
Diaz Plots To Take Felicity (3:27)
Unable To Protect My Family (2:00)

And about MY NAME IS EMIKO...
I messed with this a lot! Back and forth, kept changing my mind etc...lol!
But I came to conclusion that I like the suite ALMOST as is. In the end I only edited out the "second" cue which I called "Letter From Dad" which kinda ruined the mood a bit for me. So your Emiko 1 and 3 tracks is just one track for me now. While Emiko 2 is kept at "Letter From Dad".

Gosh, this whole project was exhausting! haha!! I did start on season 8 but had to take a break. Should continue it! Cause the album sound much better now, imo. However I dont like too many short cues in an album, so I MIGHT go back and combine some of the tracks which might fit together, as long as its chronological and from the same episode. I might....lol!

Thanx.

Also for the chronologial order of the first three album tracks. But in the end I will reduce S7 & S8 down to 80-90 minute playlist and shuffle cues around, 'til they make a good flow. I did this with seasons 4 - 6 of Supergirl. It begins with "Supergirl Everywhere" and ends with "Taking Of The Glasses" but in between it's total chaos.

I hope that you'll do S8! S7 is the only Neely score since 2020 where the tracklist doesn't look like shit.

I also dont like short cues. When joined ones work, I'll leave them how they are. I only seperate when I want the cue as single one or when the transition is bad. Sadly, the latter happens more often.

It's a shame that La La Land Records lost the music CD rights to all The CW DCTV Soundtracks from Waltertower Records and all the new soundtracks that come out are only out now digitally only. But not bothered by that too much. No matter the quality of the shows all The CW DCTV Arrowverse Soundtracks for all the seasons have been amazing. Was surprised a bit that Blake Neely was not brought back to do the music for Superman & Lois I always thought his original Superman theme for Supergirl Season 2 and the last 2 crossovers was good but with it being a new show I figured their would be a new composer for the series and Dan Romer has done a great job composing the soundtrack for the series and the Superman theme for the show is so good.

We did not lose the rights at all. Sadly no one wanted to buy this wonderful music on CD so we had to pass on doing any releases because we were not breaking even on the CDs. At least its still all coming out digitally for the fans to grab, and I commend Watertower for getting it out there

Thanks La La Land Records for clearing that up a bit. Did not know that. While I'm a bit sad and disappointed that are not coming out anymore physically on CD at the very least the music is still coming out digitally from Watertower Records after the seasons of all The CW DCTV Arrowverse shows are finished and that is a good sign.

So thankful that they still release the score for each season of these shows. Even when the shows are ALL quite terrible now.

I do wonder though, if LLL had kept releasing them, would the albums still have had this awful receipt of max 15 tracks and 75 minutes? I must say I really miss the old score representations (but I think I've already said this a couple of dozen times, lol). I can understand for the first round last year if it was to save cost since there was so many soundtracks in need of releases. But they keep doing this today, and only for Blake Neely soundtracks...I dont get it.

The badly put together suites ruins the listening experience and makes it very hard to like the tracks...!

I would agree but also disagree a bit even The CW DCTV shows that Blake Neely does not score like Superman & Lois and Stargirl are quite good and those soundtracks are amazing with different composers. The explanation La La Land Records gave as to why they did not lose the music rights to the DCTV Arrowverse shows but yet they did not sell well as CD Sets is strange to me their was still a market for the soundtracks to be sold on CD but maybe with Blake Neely getting busy with the scores mainly the crossovers hence the reason why Watertower Records decided to release the soundtracks digitally only. I get their answer but it's an odd one for sure.

MV said that post 2000 scores doesn't sell well on CD as pre 2000 do.

From the LLL question thread on feb 5 '22:
The sweet spot is

60s TV
Films from '75 to '98
Animated shows from the 70's and 80s' and early 90's

There are exceptions of course, but that seems to have worked for us over the last 2 decades.

So why should LLL waste money for 5-10 CDs each year, which nearly no one will buy (Legends S3 and Riverdale S2 still have autograped copys...) when they can use it for titles that sell 5000 copies in 5 months.

Judging by the plot writing and overall style is the Arrowverse aiming at a demographic somewhere between 15 & 35 and I don't think that many people of this age buy CDs.

Most score fans will be turned of by the sound quality of the orchestral samples so also a 'no buy' for them.

The two target demographics for these releases have no interest for it. It's defenitively not an odd answer.

I do get it and understand that but shows like Superman & Lois and Stargirl have proven their is still a fanbase for these CW DCTV Arrowverse shows sure the quality differ from show to show and even though so far the 2 shows have little connection to this universe their is still a fanbase for them. So to say that fans have lost interest in the shows and the soundtracks is incorrect because the interest is still their. If they La Land Land Records where still making CD Soundtracks for the DCTV Arrowverse shows both Superman & Lois and Stargirl would have had one out but after the crossovers Elseworlds and Crisis On Infinite Earths things got busy and they La Land Land Records and Watertower Records stopped for whatever reason making the CDs for the shows. I agree with what La Land Records said about why they stopped making CD Soundtrack sets for the DCTV Arrowverse shows however sales is not a good enough reason to stop making them but it's their call so what they said is a good reason and fact. Again that's my view on it so take what you will.

So... Batwoman and Legends got cancelled after Season 3 and Season 7. Don't know how to feel.. I mean I couldn't care less about the shows but both ones had really interesting music so far. "Ryan Is Dying" is one of my favorite Batwoman tracks and Legends had a lot of good stuff during all Seasons. I really like "Stressed Western", "The Satanists Apprentice", "There Will Be Brood" from S6, "Mr Parkers Cul-de-sac (the last 90 seconds)", "Slay Anything" from S5, "The Virgin Gary", "Witch Hunt", "Takumo Attacks" & "Seance And Sensibility" from S4. And a lot more shorter cues in too long tracks lol. I hope that the last albums from both shows will be good.. but YAAYYYY... two scores less to edit and whittle... at least something...

Oh thank fucking god its finally cancelled! Both!!! So now all we need is Flash to get cancelled!
Because man alive are the shows awful these days! Lol!

But sad there wont be more score. The only thing I somewhat still care about. All though, like everyone else, after the new «formula» of these new OSTs I kinda lost interest in the scores as well. They’re just a mess to listen to! And I feel like there’s not much Neely in these new scores. Mostly the other composer. It lacks soul.

Honestly, I gave up on the various CW series once Arrow ended and they had a giant Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. That said, I am happy to continue buying the albums they release, so if they keep Flash going for the next several years and Blake Neely and company keep releasing albums, I will happily buy them. Of the CW shows, I seemed to enjoy the Supergirl scores the most, so I was sorry to see that get cancelled, if only because I knew no more albums will be coming.

Thanks to acathla, I got into The Flash (and the other shows somewhat) years ago, but man… they all got formulaic quick and wore out their welcome. Glad to hear I’m not the only one who thinks so. Still like the scores but, as a completist, I can’t buy digital and put them on a shelf next to my CDs so… not getting them.

The quality of the shows have really fallen in recent years. Stuck with Supergirl till the end but a few years behind on the others.
The quality of the scores have also declined as the shows continued, but will likely pick up any new scores that get released. I’ve gotten this many I may as well see them through.
Not too sad to see the end of the shows. Wonder if they will try and replace them or whether this is the start of the end for DC TV shows.
