judy the hutt: Dogplant gave me this for my birthday but I am keeping the original as well.

I'm keeping the "Original Motion Picture Score" album too, judy. One of the finest soundtrack album productions of that time.

Minority Report's score is very JFK.

With it's more up-front sound, I wonder if "Anderton Escapes (Alternate Segment)" is sourced from the digital multitracks?

Or vice versa?

On further listening, maybe all the alternates are from the digital.

Among other things, this score is a great demonstration of William's antipathy to the idea of resting on his laurels. By the age of 70, most composers are scaling back, but what Williams produced for Minority Report has probably the densest string writing of anything he's ever done. Just a feast to listen to.

Every bit of the release came from the analog 2-inch mix-down tapes with separate orchestra, percussion, synth and vocal.

Shawn Murphy mix-downs to analogue.

Heady, with just a hint of mellow smoothness.

Multiple thumbs up.

If I start this program with "First Vision of Anne Lively", it makes for the best playout for my taste.

Really good score, with--again--a lot of a great "borrows" from JFK.

MR was Spielberg’s last excellent film and the same goes for Williams.

I certainly enjoyed Minority Report, although I think Spielberg has continued to make excellent movies since then, including Munich, Bridge of Spies and The Post.

Oh gosh, I'm with you, Tom. And I'd add that John's score for "Lincoln" has become an all-time favorite – a majestic, gentle, playful and heartfelt masterwork in his vast career.

Yes, Lincoln is sublime.
So too is War Horse and parts of BFG are mesmerising.
I'd even posit that Bridge Of Spies is Thomas Newman's best score of this century.

I am just kind of mad at LaLa Land records for not alerting us about low quantity alerts for the Schindler's List LP
Now it is sold out
Well done...

With the caveat that I don’t care about retaining any tracks that were created simply by combining two separate cues together, is there anything unique to the original album release or is it safe to sell off now?

How much does one get for a used CD these days?

If you want that big action cue by itself and without a not-essential cue attached to the beginning of it, keep the album.

Sucks. Big Time!

Same thing as the score - Williams had more than his share of
Mediocre to Bad scores in the last 25 years and this one is no exception.
It's flat,indifferent and uninspired.

It's flat, indifferent and uninspired. You don't need JW to write you this kind of score.
You could have anybody doing it and for much less money. In fact this score could
have been very
easily rejected by any other director but Not Spielberg and JW knew that.
So ask yourself one question-would you buy this score if it wasn't for
John Williams name logo?

I kept the door ajar for you. You can both leave whenever the stares from the other members make you uncomfortable.
