I must say I am underwhelmed because the featured scenes look a lot like those in NolanĀ“s "Batman Begins" (the brown, black colors) and repeat the all too familiar reveals (Batman being shot at, rising up before a group of enemies, flying past a skyscraper, the Batmobile jumping through fire).

And that score (temp?) is just like ATTENTION, ATTENTION, THIS IS DARK AND BATMAN!!!

I hope the next trailer is better and the film and the real score are, too.

Actually, in the second half of the trailer, is Giacchino's Batman theme.

While I have a nasty feeling it'll be a tad grimmer than I'd prefer it, and I have issues with that outfit, it is quite exciting. I can see there'll be much to enjoy. And I'm starting to feel a little more excitement about the music than I did for the last trilogy. But yep, can definitely hear the Vader's Imperial March in there. I can fill Williams in my head in between the long notes quite easily so it fits. I would bet good money that someone will do just that on YT if someone hasn't already tried.

Someone did attempt to mash Gia's tune and the Vader stuff up:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcIlsP1Y7Ko

It sounds disgusting, terrible and tinny like every lame 'EPIC VERSION' remix, but lots of "likes" so what do I know. There seems to be a whole genre on youtube for ugly, musically illiterate synth mock-ups.

I'm in. Always happy for more Batman. This looks amazing and the score is, so far, just right.

Cannot. Wait.

Alas, I must.

Well fan my brow. What a surprise. Problem is a lot of folks are hearing this obviously. I do wonder how it's sitting with Giacchino? He must have seen/heard folks saying this by now. Flustered at all? Or just taking it on the chin like a good 'un knowing there are only so many melodies...

Either way I do like it very much, and could end up being my first impulse buy of a score for a very long time.

Btw, a little harsh on the performance there, "disgusting"? Thought it was ok.

Me too. On all counts.

I've just had a look at the trailer & it looks like it could be quite good (maybe even...very good). Only around six months to wait, well longer for me, as I'll probably wait for the Blu-ray. Let's call it nine months.

Eh. A professional rolls with the punches.

I'm interested to hear what the rest of the score sounds because I like a lot of MG's stuff. But I can't say this theme itself has really intrigued me much. It sounds very similar to the BvS bashing to my ear. And while the trailer was well put-together, it does rather feel like they're sticking in the same basic aesthetic universe as the post-2005 Batmen.

Meh. Other than the cheap, lifeless, tiny sound you get with all of these, I thought the mixing of the two pieces sounded clunky, harmonically ugly and amateurish. Maybe if he spent more time on it rather than churning out one of these every day, it could've been all right. But I get it. It's not meant to be art, or good. It's just "content" (which is really a misnomer... we should call most "content" what it really is: "filler."... for a dumpster).

Looks okay.
Fairly typical for Batman these days.
Lots of the trailer actually reminded me of THE CROW.
Like David, I'm confident Reeves will deliver. He hasn't let me down as yet.
I'm sure Giacchino's score will also serve the visuals well.
Yes, it does recall a stripped down version of JW's Imperial March.

Would it kill Warner Bros. to have just ONE villain in these things?

Very effective motif with picture, like most all of Giacchino's writing. I'm looking forward to hearing more! Anyone else hear how functionally it works as an inversion of the Batman Begins two-note theme?

Totally agree. Been the same since Returns. I suppose part of the problem is takes years between each film, so they try to cram in more. But very wearing.

Yeah, I don't hate the trailer, it was pretty effective. This could be a good film. While Batman is a vigilante I don't want the Punisher, or another psycho Batman though. I hate the emo-Bruce Wayne look. The color degrading and musical motif does nothing for me though.

Of course. Every time.

Also. Wasn't the original Bruce Wayne close to a fop? By which I mean he was supposed to portray the idea of a millionaire playboy who didn't have a care in the world TO HIDE the fact he was actually a badass crime fighter?

These days they want to make Bruce Wayne as grim as Batman. Mistake or no?

BUT!!!! I absolutely LOVE the fact they don't seem to be treating his voice as Batman, or asking him to 'gravel' his voice. The latter made me cringe BIG STYLE in the Nolan films.

I'm not opposed to multiple villains so long as they are used properly. The Dark Knight, which is my favorite Batman movie so far uses Joker, Two Face, Scarecrow, a half-dozen crime bosses with an endless number of goons, plus a lawyer who figures out who Batman is and tries to expose Wayne's identity after failing to cash in on that knowledge.

Based on the trailer, I am guessing that Penguin is who Batman will be having direct conflict with for the early action scenes, Catwoman will play both sides of the fence and provide a love interest and Riddler presents the mystery that Batman spends most of the movie solving. This can certainly work without everyone getting in each other's way and hopefully it does.

What a muddled, joyless, wet, mumbled, sadistic, ear-splitting mess.

Seconded, Bill. I've never been less excited for a Batman film, and given how far off I could see the Dawn of Justice train wreck coming, that's saying something. I have a feeling we're going to watch arrested-adolescent Batman spend two hours either learning lessons about police brutality or failing to learn them, and I'm not sure which is worse.
