Very generic scoring and possibly the worst sounding soundtrack in decades. Sounds like base is set to "0" and treble is set to "10". It's painful to my ears. Way over processed.

I got as far as "Tasman Sea".

LOL.

This is the biggest pile of dog shit I've heard since Justice League.

Kinda makes a person wonder why you keep doing it...

I'm an Ifukube fan, but Mischiru Oshima is a close second. And Masaru Satoh for weird, wacky fun!

I going to more Otani or Koroku (his theme for Godzilla 1984 is really, really interesting), Satoh is more a mixed bag to me, some of his stuff is more interesting than others.

If only they gave this franchise to John Powell, James Newton Howard or even Howard Shore.
Three Godzilla films and three forgettable scores. Maybe fourth times the charm.

Rubbish! For a lot of fans they are far from forgettable. Desplat’s one for the 2014 got a fair amount of praise and Bear’s score for KOTM was just brilliant, bringing his own voice in but incorporating fan favourite moments. Haven’t really heard the new one as I’m waiting to watch the film but the wee bits sounded promising.

Still, Desplat's score still get hate to this day for 'lacking thematic', when is a really thematic score and is integrated really well in the movie (which is a really good Godzilla movie).

As McCreary, really good score (as good as Desplat, IMHO), but is misserably buried under in sound effects and explosions, shame

LOVE McCreary's score. I agree with you about it being buried but it still blasted out at the right moments.
That's definitely my go-to Godzilla score aside from the old classic ones.

Different strokes for different folks I guess, I find them a bore. I tried listening to these scores numerous times and can't get into them. I couldn't even do a "Best Of" combining all three scores. There's maybe one good cue on each score.

All I know is, if John Powell, James Newton Howard, Christopher Young, Joel McNeary any number of other composers would've knocked it out of the ball park.

Please tell me about the film scores of Joel McNeary. I am not familiar with his work.

I agree. I actually think all three scores from Desplat, McCreary, and Holkenborg are good. McCreary's score is the best, absolutely awesome. Desplat's score is very fitting and Holkenborg's score is not as good as either, but still a respectable score.

Cool! BTW, did you know you can see it in theaters and on tv? I'm seeing it on tv, I just don't feel comfortable going to the theater yet. What about you?

I was disappointed McCreaery wasn't doing it. GKotM was surprising to me, because it was a contemporary score that was often overloaded with passion. Even if the structures weren't so memorable to me, it had huge swaths of feels. So good.

I will see godzilla vs kong in a movie theater.

I’m in Scotland (uk) and we don’t have open cinemas yet so tv it is ( although I’ve got a projector so that’s something). It’s the kinda film that probably should be a cinema experience though so hopefully down the line.

I also have a projector with 3D, they're pretty cool! Anyway, GODZILLA vs. KONG is almost here!

Watched it this morning and really enjoyed the film. Even enjoyed the JXL score. Wish some of the orchestral stuff sounded a bit more organic but musically, I enjoyed his themes and motifs.

I just watched it and it was a great deal of fun! One of my favorite Godzilla films.
