Sony Classical has released the first track from the score album for Ivan Reiman’s 1989 comedy sequel Ghostbusters II starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts. Available to stream/download now is The Scoleri Brothers written by the film’s composer Randy Edelman (Dragonheart, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Kindergarten Cop, xXx, While You Were Sleeping, Gettysburg). Listen to the track after the jump. Originally scheduled to be released earlier this summer, the soundtrack is set to be released on August 13 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A physical edition is also in the works (pre-order links will be added soon). Check out our previous article for the full track list (including run times).
A quick look at the track times indicate this release will be aprox. 43 min. which is a significant portion of the score but not complete, specially if some tracks are album versions. Happy that it is being released though, and if Edelman was involved in the selection of tracks/arrangement of the album it seems it will include the main highlights

From my experience, a composer being involved usually means you are LESS likely to get all the highlights, not more likely. In other words, an outside producer making the culling choices is more likely to know what the fans want than the composer.

Its true, often for fans it is better if the composer is not involved at all.
