Am I a terrible person if I consider Goldenthal's Batman theme to be superior to Elfman's?

The Warner Bros. marketing department obviously does not agree:

That damn trailer. I remember seeing it that spring, and thinking 'aw man, that looks awesome!' (Of course, I hadn't seen the other, earlier trailers which had far more campy dialogue and less Elfman/Peter Cullen.)

Glad to hear the CD's selling well and more Bat-stuff will hopefully be on the way.

I never really liked the Goldenthal score (and the films by Schumacher) but I ordered this one anyway...

... and I am LOVING it!

Sometimes, a complete representation of a score makes all the difference!

THANKS AGAIN, LA-LA-LAND, for delivering so quickly, even to overseas!

I know this is off topic but I had to post one of the comments that go with that youtube clip.

"Joel Schumacher is the Great Batman Villain? EVER, cause he's the closest one who has ever come to killing batman"

Brilliant

Finally got my copy yesterday. The envelope came with real U.S. stamps on it, not just a barcode, somewhat neat for every U.S. fan. smile

Gave it a first listen and really liked the program and the sound! The cue that impressed me most was the Wagner trauermarsch style rendition of the theme somewhere on disc one. Lots of interesting material, and barely any redundance. A real blast. I'll have to play it several times to get some distance from the original album presentation... as always. Very happy with everything. Thanks La-La-Land!

I wonder about the two short original guitar ruckus cues, were they recorded with Page Hamilton on scoring stage, or in the famous living room, or gathered from archive material/samples? I found no "making of" information about those in the liner notes or credits.

There is one lovely photo/autograph from the recording sessions on the web, btw:

(Now I'm waiting for Frantic, what a film score month!)

Unless I misinterpretated M.V's post earlier in this thread I doubt B&R is coming from any label any time soon due to rights...

The first 2 and a ½ minutes into the first track of CD2 sounds totally like ALIEN 3 - love it - Goldenthal and Serial music = Me Like

As stated before I also didn't like the OST release but a complete score can be more than just a score, it can be a collected-album razz wink

The score reminds me of a line from Fear And Loathing in Los Vegas. It "is what the whole hep world would be doing Saturday night if the Nazis had won the war. This is the sixth Reich.. the place is about four stories high, in the style of a circus tent, and all manner of strange County-Fair/Polish Carnival madness is going on up in this space."

Only Goldenthal could write a completely fascist march like the title, have it be completely camp, still manage to be heroic... and somehow fit the picture. I love it.

Can anybody be so kind and tell me what this Set's easter egg is supposed to be?
(Disc 2 - Track 20 - the last 10 Seconds or so)

I've absolutely got no clue at all ...

Thanks!

Such a smart take on the score. Sums up my feelings perfectly. Goldenthal is an absolute genius.

It's the overlay from the introduction of the Flying Graysons

I have a question since the track-listing for cronologically is confusing for me

are there any cues within the tracks that are not in film order

and that chance blank cue - was it inserted byt the film team or was it composed for that scene ?

When I read "fascist march" I was reminded of Duning's little fascist march from ST:TOS "Patterns of Force," the similarity (to Goldenthal's) of which I'd never noticed before now.

My God...try watching Bat Forever on Close Captions .
This has to be the most horrific script ever penned, period. Not to mention how badly & painfully it's delivered by all involved. This surely isn't breaking news, just felt like posting it.....

On a happier note, Silvestri's Judge Dredd nicely syncs up if you play Intrada's fine new set against BAT 3. Nothing wrong with Goldenthal's score, just an interesting experiment.

The horror, the horror...
Sean

I just recently bought this. For some reason i'd put it off, despite liking the original CD and wanting more. I'd forgotten how great it was and the themes have been stuck in my head for a week. There's so much in this that i'd forgotten or not noticed in the film. It's brilliant and sends me off on a Goldenthal-binge, listening to the even more fantastically bombastic Final Fantasy and then Interview With The Vampire.
