Cool, thanks Tango.
I, too, liked the first JNH Snow White score but have struggled with the follow-up.
I'll give your whittle a go.

Great, let me know how it plays for you!

Dammit, I thought I had posted my READY PLAYER ONE playlist here, but apparently not. Bought a new computer a few months back, and didn't save the playlist version of this. Can't remember what I chose now.

How I hate that. One time I had hundreds of custom playlists in iTunes and accidentally tossed out my "iTunes Library" folder! Thankfully I had most playlists burnt to CD for my car so I just had to go and re-import everything back in.

Falling Down fantasy 1993 album whittle:

01-Main Title
02-Hole in Shoe
03-Drive By Shooting
04-Miracle Mile
05-MacArthur Park
06-To Surplus Store
07-Other side of the Moon
08-Till death do us part
09-Falling Down
10-Still a Cop

Another one I wish I had back in the 90s.

You could make a better 35 minutes if you had the tracks separated (from a listening perspective, putting that classic Bill coming home music - from the trailer! - after that long dialogue scene with John Diehl just kills me). Too much "non-album" material in the Intrada-indexed version (yes, I will never stop complaining about this).

Here's my whittled version of LLL's Dracula. It's not perfect (I rearranged some of it), but I like it so far.

1. Dracula - The Beginning (Album Version)
2. Vampire Hunters (Album Version)
3. Mina/Jonathan (Unused Album Suite)
4. Mina's Photo (Album Version)
5. Lucy's Party (Album Version) (I love this theme but prefer the slower version on the album to the speedier one)
6. The Brides (Album)
7. The Storm (Original)
8. The Letter I
9. Love Remembered
10. The Cinema (Original)
11. Rules Cafe (Extended Album Version)
12. Dracula Toolbox D21 (Unused Album Suite)
13. Lucy Squirms
14. The Letter II (this is great)
15. Dracula Toolbox: Tears To Diamonds
16. The Hunt Builds (Original)
17. Dracula Toolbox D18C (I liked the instrumentation here over the track that should follow that has this theme)
18. Lucy's Lullaby (Vocal)
19. The Stake
20. The Green Mist (Alternate No Mutes)
21. Mina/Dracula (Extended)
22. The Fire (Alt Intro)
23. The Ring Of Fire (Album Version)
24. Race Against The Sunset
25. Love Remembered/Love Eternal (Original)
26. The End (Original)
27. End Credits (Album)
28. End Credits (Original)

Here's my whittled version of LLL's Dracula.

You DO know that Wojciech Kilar himself actually made a perfectly "whittled-down" presentation back in 1992? wink

"Perfectly" would suggest a presentation without apparent compromise. However, the composer made a presentation to fit the technical time constraints of a single CD.
Do you know what his presentation might have been if he had been allocated more playing time?
Do you think he would have ended up with the exact same selection of music if the label had offered to produce a 2CD set?

Thor.
They just don't get the concept of "listenability".
Never mind them.

Yes, I used as many album cues as possible. Some of the ones marked "(Original)" are super close to the album versions, only there's less "gauze" on them, so they sound cleaner. This is 3 hours of music whittled down to 80 minutes! I'm sure I'll go down even more than that once the glow of this glorious set dims somewhat. Just let me enjoy things, Thor!

I just whittled down WarGames to 45 minutes, so here goes (I love almost all the suspense and sneaking around music, so I don't think I cut much of that):

1. Principal's Office (cut the opening cue because it made sense to start with David and then go to the serious stuff)
2. A New Grade, Pt. 1
3. History Lesson (I moved this cue forward for the same reasons as cutting "WarGames")
4. The Games Begin
5. It Could Be War, Pt. 1
6. Home Movie
7. A Game Of Chess?
8. Nuclear Alert, Part 2
9. Walk Through NORAD
10. David Captured
11. David Searches
12. The Sneak
13. NORAD
14. It Could Be War, Pt. 3
15. Confidence Is High
16. Falken's House
17. I Can't Swim
18. David's Concern
19. Helicopter Pursuit
20. Launch Detected
21. Closing The Mountain
22. Joshua!
23. It Might Be Real
24. Tic-Tac-Toe
25. Winner None

I didn't include the end title either, which I guess is blasphemous, but I'd never listen to that version of the theme away from the cues that utilize it in the film. Try this whittled version out with or without the end title, I don't care.

I'm going to compete head-to-head with Shaun on a Wargames whittled-down 45-minute album version, now that I have my copy from Quartet. Actually my version is around 46 minutes, but it follows mostly the same cue selections and does include the end titles. I omitted most of the low key suspense and sneaking around NORAD cues:

1.WarGames
2.Video Fever {vocal)
3.Principal's Office
4.A New Grade, Part 1
5.The Games Begin
6.It Could Be War, Part 1
7.History Lesson
8.Home Movie
9.A Game of Chess?
10.It Could Be War, Part 2
11.Walk Through NORAD
12.NORAD
13.It Could Be War, Part 3
14.Confidence Is High
15.Off to See Falken
16.Maneuvers
17.Falken's House
18.David's Concern
19.Helicopter Pursuit
20.Launch Detected
21.Closing the Mountain
22.Joshua!
23.It Might Be Real
24.Tic-Tac-Toe
25.Winner None
26.End Credits

David Captured, though, Tom! I listened to my own version yesterday and think I’d further whittle to remove David Searches, which I only had on there because I love the opening in that exact performance, and maybe Walk Around NORAD.

Mackenna's Gold, as released by Intrada, lacks an acceptable version of Old Turkey Buzzard. The Intrada version (from the U.S. LP rather than the superior European release) is a horrible pop treatment, nothing like the film version.
The much better, film-like version song is on the Feliciano CD "No Jive - The Very Best of Jose Feliciano" and can be whittled into the Intrada release. It's in stereo and a good sound match for the other Intrada material (unlike a mono release of the same performance on a Bear Family release). Only drawback... some tiny clicks here and there that suggest LP surface noise.
By also getting rid of the other "pop"-flavored album treatments on the Intrada release and sticking just with the strong original score material, the selection becomes:

Overture
Old Turkey Buzzard (from Feliciano "No Jive" album)
Canon Del Oro
Waterhole Trek
Main Title
Apache Camp
Massacre Montage
Old Turkey Buzzard (Spanish version)
Finale

The Main Title appears in the middle (as on the LP) but works fine there as it contains some similar material to some sections of the Overture, so those two tracks benefit from being separated.

Me too! That's why I prefer separate cues so I can do my own cross-fading. big grin
