Just rumors at this moment, but upcoming 2-CDs release will be a CD-R, not a pressed CD frown

The CDR item code at Movie Music, I'm assuming means that's what it is- a CD-R.

I think I remember that also being a concern with regards to Aquaman a couple years ago.
My CD (which almost certainly would have come from Amazon) was pressed- but other Watchtower releases I've ordered there were burned.

It was only after I got the MP3s off Amazon that I had the bright idea to check HDTracks.
They have it in both 16 and 24 bit. I ended up splurging and grabbed the 24 bit there as well.
Fortunately there's some coupons out there to take a little bit of the sting away.

I'll chalk it up as a lesson in one way or another, as I'll be able to compare both and finally know whether a more expensive, higher bit rate lossless copy is worth it in the future.

Otherwise- three tracks in and I can't say I'm regretting all the fuss so far.

I don't really mind, still better than a download only option. I have never had any problems with my official CD-R edition CDs. Even the oldest one plays fine.

A recent Zimmer score that actually interests me for a change.

I haven't been paying attention to the release date. So is this out? Or are some of you being nefarious?

Water Tower Records has put the entire OST album up on youtube in a single video

They've also put up each track in its own video

Thanks Jason! I'm an hour in. Its pretty solid effort. Not quite Zimmer of the 90's but miles better than the MCU superhero scores. It's got some beautiful thematic material and a nice blend between orchestra and synth. It's pretty powerful and moving in spots which remind me of Gladiator. There's a nice sense of tension in other cues. I think it was brilliant how he limited the use of the WW theme and it comes in pretty late in the score. That gave it more impact. Of course there are other influences from his past works. I'm sure I'll like the score more once I see the film and can connect the music with the story.

Same as Pemberton's "Birds Of Prey" & Tyler's "Crazy Rich Asians" - CD-R only by the same WaterTower frown

By comparing between Hans and Rupert Gregson-Williams Wonder Woman soundtracks, which one you like more?

Hmmm, that's a good question. To be honest I think they compliment each other well. I think the tone and style share the same "universe". There's a lot of heart and emotion in both scores, but whats missing (in both) is good action music. That's still a big let down even with the best scores out there nowadays. Action music is pretty generic. Ive only heard 84 once though and would have to go back to WW to refresh my memory. If the action music was better in both I'd give them a much higher rating.
Still they're both solid efforts. Whats good is good.

I'm about half way through it now.

Some of Zimmer's (or Team Zimmer's) most entertaining writing for years.

However it still sounds massively processed (over-produced). I don't think there's a single note of this that sounds like a real orchestra (even though it is). Mixing is (no doubt deliberately) all over the place. It's actually quite tiring to listen to because it sounds so artificial.

A shame because there's some really fun stuff here....

EDIT: Ironically the best-sounding track is the bonus track, "Lost and Found"

Sensational score. One of the best of 2020 for sure!

Agreed, still some library samples noticeable.

Agreed. It is deliberately LOUD in some parts of the tracks. I find myself constantly adjusting the volume levels on my A/V Receiver (which is set to Multi-Stereo mode no EQ active for all music. This mode uses two pairs of speakersets (LF/RF/SL/SR, same model, same impedance) out of my 5.1 config. It's the closest my receiver can generate a "Muti-Channel SACD" experience from any standard 2-channel LPCM.

I have listened to it in A.F.D. mode. Still over mixed and over produced.

Agreed, the orchestra seems over-processed (perhaps an attempt to add volume to the mix, but it actually flattens the dynamic range and fidelity is lost). The loud parts are so loud that they drown out the other sections of the orchestra and instruments. And what is with the screetching trumpets. Down please....

Could it be that Hans Zimmer has hearing loss and as a result this is what he needs the sound levels to be to compensate for his hearing loss?

Must be a generational gap or something. I am in my 30s and I had my ipod turned up to maximum connected to my speakers. Loved the score. The orchestra is definitely processed, and it is one of my criticism, but overall it doesn't distract what the score is. Maybe if we are talking about The Da Vinci Code, I would care more (and I did). Here, I just want a score that is exciting, melodic, and full of personality, with iconic themes. This score delivers.

This is legit scoring. I don't think I'd put it above Zimmer's Dark Knight trilogy or Man of Steel personally, but there's a lot of good material in here. It certainly sounds cut from the same cloth as Gregson-Williams' Wonder Woman and Aquaman scores, which is a very good thing.

Live performance from the online premier is fun. I remember Hans really didn't like the idea of performing concerts - now he seems to love performing, and the concert I saw last year, he seemed to have having the time of his life. I know that doesn't mean he might not get nervous nor dread performing, but I think the joy he experiences on stage is both real and infectious...

Yeah, I had to adjust my volume a couple of times. It really does sound AWFUL if you analyse it too much. There's no detail or subtelty to enjoy here. Great themes and melodies but no... I don't know... depth or substance. And a lot of that is due to the recording.

I fear for No Time To Die....

Dogplant asked me what I wanted for my birthday (we exchange musical gifts for BDs) and I requested Wonder Woman 1984. Not sure how I will like it but will see (actually hear) soon.

I agree it sounds "processed" and the score does complete the musical "trilogy" of WW, Aquaman and WW84. While I like what I heard it won't be as memorable as his early works.
