Thanks Jason! I'm an hour in. Its pretty solid effort. Not quite Zimmer of the 90's but miles better than the MCU superhero scores. It's got some beautiful thematic material and a nice blend between orchestra and synth. It's pretty powerful and moving in spots which remind me of Gladiator. There's a nice sense of tension in other cues. I think it was brilliant how he limited the use of the WW theme and it comes in pretty late in the score. That gave it more impact. Of course there are other influences from his past works. I'm sure I'll like the score more once I see the film and can connect the music with the story. By comparing between Hans and Rupert Gregson-Williams Wonder Woman soundtracks, which one you like more?

Some of Zimmer's (or Team Zimmer's) most entertaining writing for years. Agreed, still some library samples noticeable. However it still sounds massively processed (over-produced). I don't think there's a single note of this that sounds like a real orchestra (even though it is). Mixing is (no doubt deliberately) all over the place. It's actually quite tiring to listen to because it sounds so artificial. Agreed. It is deliberately LOUD in some parts of the tracks. I find myself constantly adjusting the volume levels on my A/V Receiver (which is set to Multi-Stereo mode no EQ active for all music. This mode uses two pairs of speakersets (LF/RF/SL/SR, same model, same impedance) out of my 5.1 config. It's the closest my receiver can generate a "Muti-Channel SACD" experience from any standard 2-channel LPCM. I have listened to it in A.F.D. mode. Still over mixed and over produced. Agreed, the orchestra seems over-processed (perhaps an attempt to add volume to the mix, but it actually flattens the dynamic range and fidelity is lost). The loud parts are so loud that they drown out the other sections of the orchestra and instruments. And what is with the screetching trumpets. Down please.... Could it be that Hans Zimmer has hearing loss and as a result this is what he needs the sound levels to be to compensate for his hearing loss? Must be a generational gap or something. I am in my 30s and I had my ipod turned up to maximum connected to my speakers. Loved the score. The orchestra is definitely processed, and it is one of my criticism, but overall it doesn't distract what the score is. Maybe if we are talking about The Da Vinci Code, I would care more (and I did). Here, I just want a score that is exciting, melodic, and full of personality, with iconic themes. This score delivers.

This is legit scoring. I don't think I'd put it above Zimmer's Dark Knight trilogy or Man of Steel personally, but there's a lot of good material in here. It certainly sounds cut from the same cloth as Gregson-Williams' Wonder Woman and Aquaman scores, which is a very good thing.

Dogplant asked me what I wanted for my birthday (we exchange musical gifts for BDs) and I requested Wonder Woman 1984. Not sure how I will like it but will see (actually hear) soon.
