I wanted to make a comment on the scores that I liked by Zimmer in that other thread about his early career in an effort to try to find something about his career that didn't make me feel like hugging the nearest ghostwriter but I got dismissed as too young to know anything about his career (gotta love the reverse ageism) and also that I don't know anything about soundtracks so I can't help but feel like the Zimmer fans are at least partially to blame for some of the animosity? Like, even when I TRY to like him it becomes insufferable.

If that is referring to me, please don't make strawmen. I never said you don't know anything about soundtracks. Just that I do not agree with the use of the word 'early years' for his prime 90s period. Negative, it was another Zimmer fan who told me I don't know anything about film music, in this particular thread. You were the one who used ad hominem to preface your argument with comments about my age in an effort to support your anecdotal claims, in the other Zimmer thread. It should be noted that there are no hard feelings...I'm don't take these conversations personally. I'm just not a fan of Zimmer or his practices.

But it's also down to a more transparent aggressive and negative space that has grown steadily over the years, here on FSM and elsewhere. Maybe social media is to blame? People are just angrier now. Quick to negativity and nastiness. It's not just here, it's all over social and society.

Is it true that Hans Zimmer is an energy vampire that feeds off of the negativity which a fraction of fraction of a minority feels towards him? The FSM message board must be his feeding grounds. That is kind of the issue, that the defenders of Zimmer always came around to - 'that tiny tiny group of people that dislike Zimmer are so few, and so crazy - well, they point of view they hold is irrelevant, because if you are a decent human being you like Zimmer." Once again proving the fact Zimmer detractors critique the composer not the fans but Zimmer fans attack those who dare critique the composer. I hate to go down this road again, but an unsubstantiated anecdotal comment hardly “proves” a “fact”. And as a member for almost 20 years, I don’t ever remember that being said in anything near those words. There are posts on these pages that I remember very well from Zimmer detractors calling his fans idiots. That’s what got me exercised in the first place, even though I’m very much an armchair fan, like I am of many composers. To me, it looks like some HZ detractors have leapt on this to make them look like the victims. Really, I’m disinterested in this argument; I just don’t think people should be called stupid for liking any composer. In my experience, that’s how all this started, regardless of how it then escalated. I’ve said my piece

Not trying to start anything...but you contradicted your first sentence with your second and third sentences. The bottom line is that there is nothing in this "argument" between sides that has anything other than anecdotal evidence of some sort of conspiracy for or against Zimmer.

It makes me think of that blogger that reviewed scores, British guy I think, who was critical of Junkie XL and confronted a lot of Zimmer wrath. Cannot recall the name of that guy. Apparently a bit of cultishness with the Church of Remote Control James Southall from Movie Wave.

Your first sentence reads well, but isn’t actually true. It is though. See next example: You said: There are posts on these pages that I remember very well from Zimmer detractors calling his fans idiots. This is anecdotal. And your second isn’t the point I was arguing. No, that was the point I was arguing.
