Sarge, he's a bum. He get's free copies of books, magazines, cd's and dvd's on the pretense of reviewing them. Whilst in reality, he is a poverty stricken BUM....

Thanks, Steve. Perhaps that's why he feels free to say whatever he pleases.

i wish i got free stuff . Erik Woods probably does, not me.
Steve and Sarge - talk about 'made for each other'
get married already!

How lovely. Sarge is a great guy, and I enjoy his posts, but he's got the wrong plumbing. big grin

I didn't just fall off the turnip truck John... why doesn't the previous editions have the hiss then?

There is an amount of hiss on the Varese version. I really cannot make a fair comparison until I get my Intrada First Blood. Perhaps they went with the tapes they did to preserve some of the nuance in the music. If there was any kind of processing on the previous version, they might have decided not to go that route. I had to get used to it on their Predator. Thing is though, I have come to appreciate the charm of a little tape hiss. These are analog and there is only so much one can do without damaging musical integrity friend.

You make a good point John... anyways only nitpicking. I should shut up because the set is amazing... a lot of tireless work went into it's production and so happy to have it. Plus that "trailer" cue is amazing!

I was just wondering since I ordered the day they announced it and my payment's still pending... I'm getting antsy since I haven't bought a new CD in a while.

Likely there's a bit of a lag due to Thanksgiving. They're usually always on the ball, so let's see what happens in another day or two.

Oh yeah, I forgot it was Thanksgiving.

Great job Intrada! Seems like nobody does it better.

I received it last night. Fantastic sound, definitely superior to the Varese Sarabande release. With the exception of putting the unused pop intro at the beginning, I have no complaints. Thank you for making this happen Intrada!

Wow, this release is spectacular. This makes me even more excited to hear the new Poltergeist release now.

I said this in that thread, and we have the exact same situation here. Comparing the sound quality of this release to the previous ones is literally like going from having clogged up ears to having them fully cleared.

The difference alone in the acoustic guitar of "Home Coming" is striking to say the least.

Immaculate release from Intrada!

This is really a tremendous release, for the astounding clarity of the music now. The previous releases always had that muffled, distant sound, I guess the same compression that made the original issues of Final Conflict and Night Crossing so frustrating - that "recorded in the can" sound.

But this one...wow...brilliant and loud and clear. The original album version has never sounded better, hiss be dammed, us oldsters are used to some analog hiss !

It is great to have the film recording in complete order, but, the album - at least for me, and especially with the improved sound - is perhaps the most exciting soundtrack album ever, an excellent presentation that even Thor should not be without.

Good feedback Mike, I'll have this now prioritized. After a long time I only bought the old Varese cd a year and half ago and therefore was not so impressed with the score because the album mastering sucked. I already have the sequel scores which I greatly love.

I got mine last week and it's most amazing. Some of it sounds "faster" in tempi than my original Varese CD though. Did anyone notice this or is the awesome quality just making me more aware of things? Probably the latter.

It's just the total awesomeness big grin The new elements and or mastering really makes the album jump. I can understand one's hesitation at double - or triple - dipping on this one, but in this case, after listening, even if the original film tracks had not been included, it is night and day in comparison to the original. It's a no brainer to upgrade !

Just received yesterday and I am loving every second of it, including the pop iteration of the main theme.

Can anyone detail the bits of the score that are new to this release, i.e. edited out by Jerry for the initial release?

It's all itemized at the back of the CD booklet.

I FINALLY ordered my copy tonight. Honestly, these sound samples are simply AMAZING, and I've never heard this score before in my life.

$19.99 is such a bargain for this title. Money well spent.

Ordered last week.

I am now on my third purchase of this score.

Intrada-Varese-Intrada.

I am glad it is an unlimited edition. This is essential film music at it's very finest and deserves a place of choice in every collection.

Long live Jerry!

Cheers!

Better late than never, yes? wink

Besides, I'm a youngster. I'm not even 20 years old yet! I've still got quite a life ahead of me, here.
