I'd like to start here a thread concerning all the news from vintage series on DVD.
Find the first one.

Ironside - Here's something that'll make you Shout! Season 1 news!
Posted by Gord Lacey (12/05/2006)

Shout! Factory is set to release the first season of Ironside on April 24, 2007. Unfortunately details are very slim right now; we can tell you the set will sell for a suggested price of $59.95, and that's about all. Hopefully the set will include Ironside, the TV movie which kicked off the series, and the following 28 episodes from season 1; that information isn't available yet, but we'll check with our studio contacts.

The series starred Raymond Burr as the wheelchair-bound detective, Robert Ironside, and ran for 8 seasons (199 episodes) between 1967 and 1975.

Expect more news on this set soon.

No. It's a general thread not a specific one.

How could you "confuse" the two? This thread has four posts and the other has over sixty!

Thor,

Let me explain the difference.
The one you mentioned is speculative/theoritical: see the title "Vintage TV shows that deserve DVD releases?"
My thread is about fresh release informations: see the title "Vintage TV Series News!"
It's done to alert the fans like an outpost.

I'd love to see the early "Untouchables again. I wonder if it'll include the 2 part pilot that aired on "Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse" on CBS? The series was picked up by ABC.

Here's the official word.

Untouchables, The - Season 1, Volume 1 confirmed!
Posted by Gord Lacey (12/12/2006)

The studio has quickly confirmed the news we brought you a few weeks ago: they're going to release The Untouchables: Season 1, Volume 1. The set will be released on April 3, 2007, and will include 644 mins of entertainment. We're guessing that'll be 12 episode, at roughly 53-54 mins each, though the studio hasn't confirmed it. In fact, there's a lot of information missing regarding this release, like whether they'll include the 2-part pilot that aired on Desilu Playhouse. We'll try to get more details, and artwork, when we can.

Streets of San Francisco, The - Join Stone & Keller in April
Posted by Gord Lacey (12/12/2006)

Twenty year veteran Detective Lt. Mike Stone is partnered with young, college educated Inspector Steve Keller who has a lot to learn about being a police detective on the Streets of San Francisco.

The rumors of a Streets of San Francisco release, which we posted a few weeks ago, have been confirmed by the studio; Season 1, Volume 1 is coming on April 3, 2007. The set will contain 644 mins of entertainment, which should equal 12 episodes, or 10 regular episodes and the pilot movie. We'll bring you more information once the studio announces it.

Another moneywise releases or perhaps, the Studio is scared by the selling.

I know that all episodes of both seasons of "Desilu Playhouse" are around as they are releasing the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz episodes of the series this spring. It'd be criminal not to include the pilot.

Universal now announces the Season 1 release of "Alias Smith And Jones" for February. It's nice they're still dipping into the vault, but frankly I'd be happier if some abandoned "one and done" titles would be resumed.

Universal is odd because they're obvious titles to be released:
"Thriller" (1960-1962)
"The Name of the Game"
"Banacek"
"The Six Million Dollar Man"
Plus some early TV movies/mini series directed by Steven Spielberg as "The Psychiatrist" and "Savage".

There's a rights issue that's held up Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman involving the author of the original novel that doesn't affect R2 releases but in R1 we're shut out for now.

I still want Season 2 of "Dragnet", "Adam-12", "McMillan And Wife" and "Kojak" before I see any new vintage Universal titles come out (unless it's "Ellery Queen").

A four disc set with all 15 first season episodes. Can't wait for this one, either! It's long been one of my favorite Westerns. I won't pick up season three if it ever gets released. For most fans of the show, it was the Pete Duel/Ben Murphy chemistry that made the show work.

It looks like Fox is paying attention to the success of the complete "Get Smart" series in terms of their plans for "Land Of The Giants."

Apparently, Gord Lacey of TV Shows on DVD.com suggested to Fox that they try the complete series at once approach with a title, and "Land Of The Giants" was the one they decided on.

Now, I wonder why I would want the Odd Couple to come out? (Insert Neal Hefti Batman tie-in here)smile COOL!

As for Ironsides and the streets of San Francisco, I am glad. The fans of those shows deserve a release.
