Just had season 1 bought for me, well made, likable performances and Eric Braeden before he was Eric Braeden.I would have been 31/2 when this first aired on US TV in Sept 1966.Entertaining old fashon action, you can see where "The A Team" got some of its influence.

Well, credit where credit is due: The Rat Patrol was a whole-cloth reworking of the 1953 Richard Burton film, THE DESERT RATS.

As for Eric Braeden: Gudegast is good to go.

Please watch all episodes directed by Lee H. Katzin--another gifted director (see THE LIFE AGAINST DEATH RAID).
Plot-wise, I advise you to watch THE CHAIN OF DEATH RAID (Troy and Dietrich find themselves chained, escaped from a Bedouins camp and must survive in the hot sun while crossing the dessert to reach their respective sides) and THE BLIND MAN'S BLUFF RAID (in which Troy is blind)!

Might wait for season 2 and have Rat Patrol weekend. What a pity our UK "betters" took it of air,the show could have done for Gary Raymond what UNCLE did for David Mc callum.

Didnt Lee Katzin direct the first 2 episodes of Space 1999 and those last 2 Dirty Dozen TVM,s?

Yes, Katzin directed two SPACE: 1999.
Katzin started his directing career with "The Wild Wild West" and "Mission: Impossible". Before he was a First AD on "The Outer Limits".
Katzin had a superb wide angle lens style on "The Rat Patrol" playing with perspective and depth of field.

I still think the Spanish shot shows looked better, less uneasy use of MGM lot 3 is better. Was the pilot shot in Spain or California?

Please watch director Sutton Roley episode:
"The Double or Nothing Raid"

That episode contains one of the most audience-pleasing moments in the series -- the sequence where the Germans are about to execute Moffitt.

They raise their guns, the officer calls out, "Ready... aim... AMERICANS! AMERICANS!"

Moffit's eyes snap open as you hear gunfire, and the next shot shows Troy, leaning back and blasting away with the .50 caliber, as the jeeps roar down and just blast their way right into the camp. Roley placed the camera right alongside the machine run, looking back at Christopher George, and that shot is BADASS.

That one sequence epitomizes the machismo of the show, and it also illustrates what a great director Roley was.

Fox just announced the Sept. release of an obscure Sutton Roley Sci Fi film, called Chosen Survivors, starring Alex Cord. Never seen it, but I've been curious about it.

My brother recently had his gall bladder removed and I bought him season one to watch during his recuperation.

I remembered he liked it as a kid, and I think he was surprised I remembered.

Now he's gonna watch it with his son.

I've noticed a lot of talk recently over this tv show from the 60's - THE RAT PATROL. So, I did some research and found out more about the show than I expected to. I found photos of the cast which included actors GARY RAYMOND and CHRISTOPHER GEORGE, and others. I realize of course that all of the fans here are promoting the 'ACTION & ADVENTURE' aspects of the show, and I hate to throw cold water on the aforementioned descriptions of the show... but I have to admit I'm going to hunt down the first season and enjoy it for it's other attributes that are plainly obvious to some, but not to the fans on this message board - THE BEEFCAKE!

I just received my season 2 DVD set and I watched the season opener directed again by the great Sutton Roley:
THE TRUCE AT ABURAH RAID.
Watch out for season 2's brand new main title.
