The farm "fairs" of the midwest had a somewhat nostalgic, rural, and unique quality about them.
Though we have a county fair here in Los Angeles each year, it's not really quite the same.
But I suspect that as big business takes over agriculture, the rural fairs are going to change considerably over the coming years, too.
No more home-made dill pickles and mince-meat pie! 
Our county fair (going on right now), is still all about farm animals and homemade pies and pickles and such. It has rides, and shows and such, as well, but all the events are right out of State Fair.

We have a county fair, too, which has already come and gone. I haven't attended this in years, but it was fun back in the day. Have fun, henry!

I'm not happy summer is almost over, but I am excited for the Minnesota State Fair. I can't wait, hopefully I am going this Thursday or Friday. Who else is excited about the fair?
I used to go to our county fair every year. I miss those days. Anyway, have a good time and enjoy the unique setting of the fair, Henry.

Awww, and here I thought perhaps the Rodgers & Hammerstein film was finally making its way to Blu-ray.
