(Found it on iTunes) Personally I thought they put all their great ideas into the pilot, and it moved along way to fast. It felt very choppy. Thankfully, they redid the pilot, and slowly brought those original story elements out over a period of 5 or 6 episodes. I laughed when the Lost In Space Logo appeared large on the screen and slowly moved backwards until it disappeared. Now I know where Lucas got THAT idea! And how funny all those years later Johnny Williams would end up scoring Star Wars with the same logo effect. Last nights episode of VTTBOTS guest starred Ed Asner. (The Exile ) Great story with some clever writing. But what really stood out for me was Ed Asner's performance. Perhaps the best acting I've seen on Voyage thus far. Question about the effects. When one is inside the observation room. Are the shots outside the window rear projection or blue screened? Back then it would have been rear projection. The FX in Irwin Allen's TV shows were superb - the Lydecker brothers and LB Abbot were absolute geniuses. Some of the model work still stands up today, like the flying sub launch sequence in Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea and Jupiter 2 flying over alien landscapes in Lost In Space.    Posted:   Aug 18, 2013 - 11:37 AM     By:   Solium   (Member) I agree with you. I know the model work was done "in-camera" and looks so much better today than the blues screen effects from Star Trek TOS. Does this mean the entire series was filmed in color? As I understand it, Irwin wanted to shoot the pilot episode in color, but 20th Century Fox wouldn't pay for the difference. So he just ordered the miniature fx to be filmed in color, with an eye toward possibly re-using them in future color episodes. But that was only for the pilot. Miniatures for "The Derelict" were shot in black and white, which is painfully obvious later when they get re-used in S3 "Kidnapped in Space," crudely tinted blue. That would answer a lot. I think most of the shots I saw were Special Effects work. (Chariot, Cyclops, etc.) One other shot that stood out was a scene of the space pirates robot parrot sitting on Will's shoulder. It was a color shot. The episode was in B&W. I wonder if this is where Lucas got his light saber idea from? In this episode John Robinson got to play "Zorro" as he was asked to finish the challenge with the alien boy's father. They fought with electrically charged sabers. They gave off sparks on contact and when John hit a tree it split it in half like butter! Also the jet packs. The episode with the army of Remco robots is a favorite. Also like the one where the robot grows to giant size and they have to go inside of him to reverse the process. There is an Irwin Allen sound effect that sounds very much like one of Raymond Scott's inventions. The Chariot and Space Pod. When I was a kid I loved those two robot centric episodes myself. I know a company did some remastering tests to sell the idea to FOX.
