Hey Thor, it's great to hear you're OK...but for fuck's sake man...for your own good...

Yes, it’s unacceptable. Will not happen again

Message for Onya - Regarding the non-mention of Kenyon Hopkins in David Meeker's 1981 book "Jazz in the Movies" (a godsend for me before the invention of The Computer), the criteria for who is listed or not is a little bit arbitrary. So we get all the credits for scores written by Lalo Schifrin and Allyn Ferguson (for example), but in the case of Hopkins, Henry Mancini, Michel Legrand, Pat Williams etc etc etc, only their scores on which noted "jazz musicians" played are mentioned. Kenyon Hopkins gets a mention for 1957's THE STRANGE ONE, but only because Don Butterfield did the tuba work on that score.

Thanks to everyone who participated in yesterday's meeting. It was interesting to see and hear about the books people highlighted.

Yes, I have to say that - except for the disappearance act at the end - last night was a spectacularly good meeting. Thank you!

Thanks. Interesting that he missed "The Hustler," which features Phil Woods throughout.

I sincerely apologize. I went to the bathroom, suddenly felt ill, sat down on the warm tiles and basically passed out. It will not happen again. Hope the last 40 minutes were OK regardless.

It was a fun meeting! Please take care of yourself, Thor!

HYDRATE!

Yes I enjoyed it, was good chatting and seeing everyone again. Apart from when Thor locked me out at the end!!

Holy cow, Thor. Time to slow down a bit, yeah? We were genuinely worried about you. We actually looked up the Norwegian equivalent of 911 just in case something truly horrible happened to you. I'm glad you're OK though. Lots of coconut water today! wink

Thor claims that he can't find coconut water in Oslo. I don't doubt him, but I truly find that mind-boggling. Whenever I drink one too many, I always drink a large coconut water before bed. I feel fine the next day.

Glad you are doing okay Thor. Thanks so much for another great session. I really appreciate your having scheduled it for Saturday. I know that isn't everyone's preference, so I appreciate the flexibility. Great conversation. everyone. I will have to look into some of the books everyone was showing off.

I will implement some self-imposed regulations for the next meeting: I will not open a beer untill 5 PM (the "party" starts at 6 PM, three hours prior to our meeting, with a different Zoom chat). I will drink slower. I will have a max limit of 6 strong beers. I will stop drinking at 11/11.30 and move to water for the remainder of the time. I will also continue hunting for this elusive coconut water. Come to think of it, I might have seen it in the store -- but only in a can, intended for cooking, not in a bottle or anything.

Again, sorry for causing unnecessary worry, for not being there to let Graham and Thomas back in, and for any other mishap there might have been.

On a more positive note, I loved Onya's initial set-up of palm trees and tiki drinks. You were too far away from the microphone, but you get the prize for the best backdrop. smile

It was my second rum cocktail of the season, plus we just got a set of vintage Arthur Umanoff bar stools for our vintage Arthur Umanoff bar, so I got a little carried away!

Hope you are feeling better!

Perhaps next time you could give us a little tour round the bar?

I shall, if the other participants are not bored!

Ms. Birri and I are vaccinated, and we are going to a new tiki bar that has opened in our little corner of the world. The proprietor is a highly regarded mixologist and a good friend.

I will report back with details.

Cheers and Mahalo!

Onya had a Rum Barrell, a Stolen Idol, and a Jet Pilot.

Ms. Birri had a Rum Barrell, Three Dots and a Dash, Mai Tai, and Planter's Punch.

A splendid time was had by all!

Sounds like a great time. Does the place have a website?

Very authentic drinks, many which are also on the Mai-Kai menu!
