I haven’t been in a fast food restaurant in over a decade maybe two decades. I refuse to pay those prices. Plus the wait times to get your food. I don’t miss them at all. I don’t even buy guilty pleasure foods anymore, again not worth the price.

One of the worst things for American health is super cheap fast food, if they all raised their prices 150% our society would be better off.

No they wouldn't. They would be poorer buying the deerer crap. Well, crying poverty. I see it here- we've no money for McDs , every night for our six + kids but they still find the money for 100 ciggies a day, 8 pints of beer a night. Kids got no shoes. Cut back on fags n booze. Buy bag of spuds for 3 quid and some burgers for about the same. Do your own. People have their priorities wrong. There were four kids in our house and not much cash but no debt. Want a new sofa they saved for it then bought it . No HP. No debt.
My dad had a saying -' we've got fuck all, but it's all ours'

I really can't remember the last time Ive had a McDonalds burger. I say ten years ago but it could be fifteen or twenty. I really didn't enjoy it the last time I had one. Ive cut out ice cream and other snacks I used to like, not worth it for the price. I don't drink or smoke either.

Ive been eating healthy for 30 or 40 years and my recent physical and blood work supports that. I don't have the health issues most people my age have.

I haven't had a McD ( anything ) in donkey's. Same for chippy food. Never smoked ( except when I rub my legs together fast). I gave up the whisky a few years ago when my dad started falling over more often (pissed). We don't eat bad food , just too much (usually). Though we only have a breakfast and tea.

I like sardines and they are (allegedly) quite a healthy option. Shopping in my local Waitrose, for a long time the sardines in olive oil were 65 pence a can. Last week the price jumped suddenly to £1 a can! I sent an e-mail to their customer services and had a right moan at them, pointing out that the same item in the nearby M & S store was only 80 pence a can.

Got a reply, but it was a lot of flannel about market fluctuations, they don't do comparisons with other outlets, blah blah blah.

I did notice that the sardines in brine and the sardines in sunflower oil remained at 65 to 75 pence. The olive oil must be the factor, then, or an excuse...

I get mackerel in a tin. I'm not as keen on sardines. I did notice, though, that mackerel in tomato sauce have less fat than those in sunflower oil. Does this apply to sardines?

Sorry, PD, I wouldn't know. Having grown up in a fishing village, mackerel were considered a trash fish. Nobody ate them. Not keen on fish in tomato sauce either.

Yep, those mackerel live in the seedy side of the ocean.

It is. There is an article on the BBC website about olive oil prices. I had to buy a bottle recently and the price has trebled approximately.

Frozen juice, in the last month or so, leaped from $1.99 to $2.49.

Yipes!

Anybody else noticing any spikes in price?

The bargain brand is gone AGAIN.

And the regular brand is $2.99.

Hiked to $3.49, at a different market.

Frozen juice

Never mind prices. What's the point of frozen juice. It has a decent shelf life un frozen . Otherwise just by the fruit .

Short grain rice went up to $1.39, but long grain stayed at $.99/pound.

I'll be switching.

Just buy long grain and cut it in half - bingo!

I was just wondering can our US friends also buy any partially chewed food?

And 85% don't know what luxury means.
