I just bought PANDEMIC for a friend, as it was their birthday. Might be playing that soon. It seemed appropriate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUESNTb5w7M I bought myself Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, as it looks like 10 good nights in and i can pass it on to a friend afterwards. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-63xEB31dA I haven't played Sherlock Holmes, but I have played Pandemic several times. Fun, but difficult game. Based on my success rate at this game, it is probably for the best that I am not in charge of response to a pandemic. I am curious to hear your thoughts on Sherlock Holmes once you give it a try. If it is the game I am thinking of, it has been around for a while, but I never got around to picking it up. Hopefully some day.

Just a little warning about ON MARS: it's a real beast in regard to rules/complexity. It's probably the most difficult game I've played (except for maybe EUROPE ENGULFED, a WWII game that encompasses the whole second world war in Europe) and it's a BITCH to teach to other players. But once mastered, it's a fascinating, deep game experience.

Mostly just Trivial Pursuit for me too, perhaps other, similar quiz games. Very rarely, a 'fun' game like Fantasy. I've never been into roleplaying board games, not even when I was a kid. But I do find it to be a fascinating 'world'; I would love to see a documentary about this phenomenon some day. But I imagine the "Surviving Mars" soundtrack to be your cup of tea - it's on spotify, a very nice ambient score for the video game of the same name

Just Trivial Pursuit. Glad I noticed this because my board game list runs to Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly and Scrabble. Played a lot of the latter during the main UK lock down in the garden because of the lovely weather we had then. All this role playing stuff and video games ain't for me. My daughter and her partner like to try new ones out on me and the mrs, but it always boils down to the above three for me to get some enjoyment...

It is funny, I have been into board games for a long time, and posts like Lewis&Clark's remind me how many games are out there that I haven't even heard of. Those games you posted look a lot of fun. In particular, I would love to give On Mars a try sometime. As far as some games I have been playing lately, here is a game I have been running on Wednesdays for some co-workers and former co-workers via Google Meet (similar to Zoom, but it doesn't have the time restriction Zoom has). I act as the quizmaster, and there are three teams that compete regularly for glory. I also just backed the 2nd Edition of Massive Darkness on Kickstarter. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cmon/massive-darkness-2-hellscape/description Massive Darkness is a fun dungeon crawl game. The first edition shined when it featured standalone quests where you could evolve your character as the dungeon got more challenging. The original had a campaign, but it was added on at the last minute, and had significant flaws. For this version, the campaign was developed alongside the regular game, and is meant to either be played as a single adventure standalone game, or as a lengthy campaign. Here is the 1st Edition cover:

The Kickstarter for Massive Darkness 2 looks VERY tempting!

The Kickstarter for Massive Darkness 2 looks VERY tempting! If you want to get a feel for it, they released a demo for the game on tabletop simulator, and a .pdf of a draft of the rulebook is available for download.

On Mars (autocorrected to Oars Wally) appeals but I know I'd never get to play it with the folks I know. An issue is I don't know anyone who really board games and these days it's impossible to meet up anyway other than a very few people who are casually interested in playing on a not very regular basis. Because of this reason I buy (almost) only games that have a solo mode (which of course is only half the fun).
