No expert on Italian Westerns, but I remember seeing THE 5-MAN ARMY in the cinema (a l-o-n-g time ago) and found it thoroughly entertaining. Peter Graves was in it, and I think it had an American director - Don Taylor? Am surprised this one isn't better known as a viewing experience. Morricone's music must certainly be well-known... Great film. A must buy as soon as I see it on Blu ray.

Meaning it wasnt dubbed and Bud and Castelwhatsisface used their own voices.

Just thought of another one I think is quite good- The Price of Power directed by Tonino Valerii( I think). It's a western reworking of the Kennedy assassination.

Django and Il Grande Silenzio, both directed by Sergio Corbucci.

It is also one of the few films that I remember where people leaving the cinema were humming the tune, did not happen that often in my experience. Another Morricone “hit”. A fun & enjoyable film, if you are lucky enough to grab the Spanish DVD it has the extended opening, mentioned in the great FSM booklet, nothing mind blowing, it is just fun to have the “other version”. The MGM release I handled was the US print with credits to Bud Spencer’s opening & I was told that the film was edited that way for Germany where he was a super–star? Maybe the alternate opening was for Spain & Castelnuovo fans? I do hope one day Warner’s will put a blu ray out, it certainly is one of the better films of the genre, maybe due to the heavy USA backing the film got from the start, kind of Enter the Dragon compared to say Fist of Fury? Great posts & enjoying reading the views, worked on a number of these films back in the60’s & early 70’s & it is nice to see people still enjoy them. Regards Andy b

Memorable scene in 5 Man Army- the Japanese chappy running his bollocks off, trying to catch the train.
