Joan Hue: I don't understand prejudging. I guess I will wait and see it and then decide for myself. How very novel of me. Joan, as you'll no doubt remember from our memorable tête-à-têtes from the days of Game of Thrones, many of the philistine fanboy types will be unsheathing all their old grudges and partial comprehensions on this one, and hoping you and I and perceptive others will be fool enough to wring our hands over it. We won't.

I can't wait to see this movie, it looks really exciting. The photography is great and I really like Denis Vileneuve.

This is the only film I am pumped to see this year so far. It's definitely the 2021 movie I'm most interested in.

This DUNE certainly looks to be made to be truly seen and appreciated on the big screen, not on TV's or cellphones. Yeah, I know, but sod it, I'm still going to watch it via Blu-ray on my telly. I'll just sit a bit closer to it (I think it's a 49", big enough for me in my small lounge). I just can't take cinemas anymore, people munching, checking their mobile phones ect. I can sit in my very comfy chair, in just my underpants if I like, eating some nice food with a big glass of very good red wine. No cinema can compete with that.

Saw this in Switzerland. Thought the Zimmer score works much better in the film. And the movie itself is pretty much great apart from the FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING-type ending. Villeneuve is a genuine talent at the top of his game. Nevertheless, it still covers the same ground as the Lynch version and I continue to wonder if it was really necessary.

Nevertheless, it still covers the same ground as the Lynch version and I continue to wonder if it was really necessary. Well, of course it covers the same ground as the Lynch version, just like Jackson's Lord of the Rings version covers the same ground as the Bakshi version. But the Lynch version was awful, so I have rather high hopes for the Villeneuve version. DUNE is a very interesting novel (read it years ago in the 1980s) and I love Villeneuve's other movies so far. I thought ARRIVAL was great, and SICARIO a masterpiece, for me the best cop thriller since HEAT and therefore of the century.
