There's some great classic style Indy in there. I can't lie, I got a surge of excitement seeing that.
And for every effect that looks kinda "meh" I am reminded at how bad some of ILM's effects looked for Last Crusade even in 1989 during the aerial dogfight scenes. or the puppet Nazi screaming to his death in the tank which ended with the turret popping off and revealing a peg...
I like the images and I like the fact that some parts of the story take place in the sixties. And I am just grateful that we won't get a score like the one in the Trailer. Thank God for John Williams. I personally would have prefered the would have re-used existing music from the four predecessors instead of zimmerizing the theme and material. And I'm glad that Sallah is back.
You know what would have worked? A totally 3D animated film like Tintin. This way the whole thing looks artistically consistent and you could have a young Indie who could realistically go on an adventure full of action and daredevil stunts.

Here's a storyboard from the cancelled Indiana Jones animated film...
I so want Williams’ score to be a triumph, but I just can’t overlook the fact that the music for Crystal Skull was totally lacklustre and unmemorable throughout.
Admittedly the material Williams was writing for was very very poor - KOTCS is an awful movie from start to finish - but to me the score just lacked energy. To the best of my recollection (and admittedly I have tried to exorcise the movie from my memory) there isn’t a single great, pulse-pounding use of the Raiders March in the entire movie.

I know a lot of people around here think everything he does is golden, but I really haven’t cared for a Williams score since the 90’s.
I don't really understand the criticism of Logan mentioned??? Wasn't its appeal the fact that these super heros were dying and therefore human and relatable? It was more organic.
I find "Dial of the Destiny" a clunky title, but hopefully it relates to the story. I hope they have enough brains to not do a straight up action with a 75 year-old man. The angle like he's retiring and is swept back into something he doesn't want, he's getting help, or some type of action/comedy where there's a lot of luck involved in him getting out of situations.
