Count Yorga, Vampire 6/10 A few out of focus and noticeably stolen shots but Robert Quarry was good in the lead and it was pretty entertaining.
The Great Silence 8.5/10 Crikey, what an ending. Vonetta McGee was great and Kinski always plays a good villain. I really like the look of the film and the setting, and the music is great.
Mentioned this before but the yorga films were unusual in that the twist at the end - unlike hammer films where the evil vampire was destroyed somehow - there was usually a freeze frame of someone you didnt suspect revealing they had been turned.
Some great performances by the engaging leads (Swanson, Holden, von Stroheim) and the supporting cast weren’t too shoddy either. Franz Waxman’s score wasn’t really my cup of tea - but is a classic golden age score and it does shine in places, shoring up the melodrama and the ultimately spooky voice over.
I enjoyed it a bit more than the first one. It has a couple of fun coppers in it, one of which is Craig T. Nelson, and an unexpected massacre at the beginning. It feels a bit more knowing and Quarry is good in it again.

I am surprised one those cranky Golden Agers hasn't dipped u for your less than worshipful praise of the score! Great fil though.
Roaring Twenties 1939 Prohibition classic with Cagney and Bogart at their best. Lots of double crossing, liquor raids and shootouts. Id go 7.9 out of 10 espec given it was made in 1939.
Le Streghe (The Witches) - 7/10 1967 De Laurentiis portmanteau comedy featuring segments by Visconti, Bolognini, Pasolini, Rossi and De Sica. Each short film stars Silvana Mangano; as a film star with insecurities whose friends prove themselves horribly fickle; as an apparently public-spirited motorist who gives herself an excuse to drive her Mini at breakneck speed around Rome; as a deaf mute chosen by Toto and Ninetto Davoli to replace their recently deceased wife and mother; as a girl whose loss of honour leads to a Sicilian massacre; and finally as the wife of a jaded American (Clint Eastwood) who longs for adventure.
The music was as eclectic as the subjects of the episodes, all except the Pasolini (which of course was Ennio) scored by Piero Piccioni.
Transylvania 6-5000 6.5/10 Rather fun in a Mel Brooks-type way. Goldblum and Begley Jr make a good sub-Abbott and Costello pairing as the leads and are good fun to watch. The ending was a nice wrap up.
Maybe it's better in English. I suffered through the Italian DVD.
Maybe it is, but I watched it with subtitles as well. The sheer bonkersness of the Pasolini section and Bolognini’s race through Rome dragged it upwards.
I thought this would be a rather predictable plot of a white racist learning to respect an African American when he has to drive this black man around in the South in 1962. I was pleased that it wasn’t all that predictable. Both men are very opposite with Mahershala Ali being very articulate and educated and Viggo Mortensen being semi-illiterate and kind of a thug. The movie is actually a journey into awareness for BOTH men. Its strength is in the excellent acting by these two actors.
Aquaman 5 out of 10
It was interesting at times, but the there was just too much CGI and drawn out fights to hold my interest. I almost felt like I was watching an animated movie. I needed more character development and less CGI.

Joan, that’s exactly how Mrs TG felt, but she expressed it slightly differently: she felt it needed more Jason Momoa and less everything else.
