England look doomed again. I don't think there's going to be a way out this time, not with Lyon bowling on this track against our fragile batting line up.
I read an article the other day after Stokes' exploits at Headingley, saying that this will be remembered as his ashes and he can now go on and dominate the series like Botham in '81. I wonder if Steve Smith read the same article?
There'd better be significant England changes for the final Test.
England squad unchanged for the final Test.
Obviously common sense has gone out of the window.
Those who cannot learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat them.
i.e., the England selectors.
Steve Smith is the difference. He scores all the runs. Paine defers to him for assistance. Don't get me wrong.....I'm glad we won. But we fell apart without Smith there.
Well, it looks like England are on course to win this final Test and level the series 2-2. I think that's a fair result, given how great both bowling attacks have been, and how rank the batting was on both sides (Smith and Stokes aside). Warner, in particular, has had an absolute mare, but despite that, he hasn't been needed!
You're happy Australia retained the Ashes in England? Weird.
Thomas, we were staring down the barrel of being thumped at home by a poor Australia team. They should have won at Headingley. This series should have been 1-3 to them, minimum. We have got away with it to be 2-2. Yes, Australia retained the Ashes, but they didn't win them. We are still unbeaten. A series draw is infinite preferable to a series loss!
Litefoot is pragmatic and correct (this time, mate, don't get carried away!)
I was watching a few highlights of the Summer this morning and saw a clip of THAT Ben Stokes catch near the boundary in the World Cup. You might say it was a catch that would stick once in ten attempts, but what a cracker that was.
