Lot of good young England players never got a chance on the pitch in this tournament. They stuck with the tired old legs for too long. Spain went with more youth and lack of fear and deserved the win. Plus...30 QUID!!!!!! WOOT!!!!!

Gave the ball away too often, and didn't go with runners at crucial times- saka let cucurella run unmarked for their winning goal - and when cucurella is the man providing the cross you deserve to fucking lose.
Bottom line was southgate was the only person in the country that thought Kane should have started. Toney would've won more headers and watkins would've made more runs.
Glad Spain won. They play the middle. England did finally come around in the second half, and a bit unlucky with that quality chance at the end. Overall though Spain had the tougher draw and was the better team.

Good point. While England stumbled past Slovakia, Switzerland and Holland (no disrespect) to the Final, Spain despatched Italy, Germany and France. It would have been a crime against football if England had poxed their way to the title in some way. They need to appoint a tactically adept manager* who isn't afraid to unleash the young talent available, much the way Spain did with theirs.
* And that isn't Southgate OR Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard etc.
It's hard not to believe that a coach of the calibre of Guardiola or Klopp would have won this tournament with this current England squad, utilising the right players in their correct positions. But I doubt either of them would take on the England National team role. I actually think Klopp is nailed on to manage Germany in the near future.

I don't think so. While Klopp has certainly been brought up on several occasions for the position, Nagelsman has a contract until after the next World Cup, and considering his performance so far, there is no reason to let him go. Germany played well in the tournament and yes, while Spain won, it was a close game and could have gone either way. The German National Team will go with Nagelsman into the next tournament, I'm pretty sure...

It's gotta be the best job going. Paid (very handsomely) to watch various footy games throughout the year. Rock up for 5 or 6 get togethers a year and oversee about 10-15 games in said year (many of them not even competitive). Then, enjoy a nice extended little jolly every two years, wherein you're not even under any pressure cos everyone expects you to do shit and no one's still alive who even remembers when we last won anything anyway. Then resign...or even better, get sacked, so you get to pocket an even bigger pay off.
