I think the first 5 or 6 seasons were the best. I'm still invested in this program and hope for a good season 9.

Bill, please go back and watch all of the episodes until you find out why Maggie left, and then report back to me. wink

Oh, I hope Negan doesn't end up picking flowers. I want him dead.

As usual, the new start has some interesting story lines and some boring filler. (And I want Negan dead.)

Bill, I have forgotten why Maggie left. Why did she leave and where was she going?

I'm concerned we are losing all significant leaders. Rick is gone as well as Maggie. I read that Michonne will soon leave. (Will she take Rick's daughter with her?)

Seems like the only leaders left are "reluctant" Daryl and maybe Carol.

I think they have a strong cast still with Aaron, Tara, Rosita stepping up and Judith knocked it out of the park. I wouldn't have thought that before Sunday. In addition the new cast that Judith rescued have a couple of interesting characters. Much more interesting than Fear. I'd throw Enid in there too. With Chandler gone her character can grow in unpredictable ways. Bear's music was especially good. Wish they would release some from the latter seasons. Maggie's character was wearing on me and I didn't miss her. Rick's flawed "superhero" human character was too predictable.

Chris, can you remember why Maggie left and where she was going? You brought up some positive points. Also, I too noticed some very good music from Bear in Sunday night's episode. I'm sure we'll hear more.

It sounded to me like he'd copied Escape to LA for much of Negan's wandering

No, I can't. I fast forwarded the end of the first part of this season so that I could get a feel for the atmospheric end but I don't remember seeing Maggie. There aren't many places to go.

JOAN HUE:

I saw this last week in the article about a possible Maggie spinoff series:

"Although the show went on to explain Cohan's exit, questions still remained regarding the character. Not only was it hinted at that some hostility had emerged between Maggie and Michonne, but the full reasons for Maggie's departure (as well as the new community's creation) were left largely unexplored."

New speculation is that Michonne leaves to look for Rick which may lead to her appearing in the three Rick Grimes spinoff movies.

Thanks, dragon. Michonne and Maggie did disagree about Negan. I think the reason for Maggie leaving should be clarified more in the future as well as telling us where she was going. Also the actress who played Maggie has a new espionage series beginning in a few weeks. She kind of hinted she might return to the WD. I'll bet that only happens if her new series flops.

Really did NOT care for Sunday's episode.

Spoilers ahead.

"We are family. Let's go look for Lukas." (dark, and at night.) So they go out and in a few minutes run into trouble and two leave to go back, leaving the rest of the family alone. Seriously? Also, really bad dialogue in my opinion.

The back story for the new prisoner was ok. I finally recognized "Alpha," the bad mom. Samantha Morton was in Minority Report.

I was really disappointed in the last episode. On the other hand, the trailer for next week's episode actually looked like there may be some forward movement and action.

Not too thrilled with the 'back story' myself. I've grown tired of sitting down to watch what's happening in the present time, only to constantly be thrown into a back story all the time. I know screenwriters think this is the best thing ever, which will help us understand the characters better, but for a show like TWD, the existing, present-time universe is really all you need.

Other than that, I like the first couple of episodes after the break. Unlike most others in this thread, I still like the show. I don't feel the urge to 'piss on' this series every week. To those people, I'd like to ask -- if you dislike the show so much, then why do you keep watching, and then come on here every week to say how much you dislike it? Is it some weird form of sado-masochism I'm not getting?

Forward movement and action?
Thats like a lesser-spotted rare bird!

Yeah back story of worm-eating psycho child dragged on.

The logic and behaviour of Enid blyton's sign-language five go on the clonk was also "script-writer convenient" eg out of character to create danger. There is too much of this in recent seasons. To create tension, lets have a reliable streetwise character do something utterly dumb n dangerous.

As for pissing on the series, i do it to annoy Thor. wink

My gripe is that there is enough crap on tv without the better series going down the toilet.

The slump continues.

"THE WALKING DEAD---the last episode. "Omega", had the lowest audience in series history with only 4.5 million viewers. The biggest audience was 17.3 million viewers for Season 5's premiere."

It is interesting to me that the evidence gets more damning and the show bigwigs blunder on talking positively. Someone somewhere must be saying Hold up, 13m viewers gone bye bye??! What are we doing wrong?

You are the only one i know who still raves about the series! wink

What other Horror/ Scifi series ever had 17.3 million viewers? Every show runs its course. Sorry if I still enjoy. Anyway they've dump some of the expensive talent so their costs are less.

I just don't understand the psychology here, Bill. Clearly, you hate the show now and have done so for a while. Yet you apparently keep tuning in every week, and then coming here to complain about it afterwards.

It can't just be to 'annoy Thor' and other folks who are still fan of the show. Must be something else going on here??

At one time it was the next best thing on tv behind game of thrones - and I genuinely want it to get better but i gotta say how i find it. And, atm, each week it irritates me more.

You two - and 4mil others - still love it, thats fine.
