That morricone scored machine gun mccain is on talking pix again tonight - 11.15pm. I quite liked it. Ennio, Florinda balkan and britt ekland made it better!

Might give it a wAtch. There's something on More4 at 9 looks good about Erebus and Terror.

You probably shouldnt bother with McCain. You will give it a 3. wink

Not worth me life! I already have Phelps on me case for the 7 I gave some Bond film.

I'm with you on A View To A Kill. In fact I love all the Roger Moore Bonds. I grew up with them and everytime one appeared on ITV, it felt like a special event.

I did to and loved Bond as a kid. Trailers on TV would set me on edge for the week before it showed. My family laugh at me as I like Moore more than Connery. I watched every Bond the other year as it was a group thing with friends but I'll prob not watch them again. I've no interest in any of the Brosnan or Craig Bonds, 'crept maybe the Bond girls.

The last great Bond film was The Living Daylights. The Brosnans had some fun set pieces, but the scripts were poor. The first Craig (Casino Royale) was interesting as a back to basics film, but the rest bored me. I was particularly baffled at the critical praise lavished on Skyfall.

I have to agree about Skyfall, praised to the skies, there was even talk on the radio (Kermode's Radio 5 show) that, could this be the first Bond to win best picture? I thought it was terrible, nothing made any sense, the plot (such as it was) & most scenes, it was just two & a half hours of plot holes, with old misery guts as Bond. These Everything With videos on YouTube cab be annoying, but I think they get it right with this one.

Erikssen says he wants to try somewhere new.

The beginning of the Spurs exodus?

I can't wait to go back to Canada. The BBC D-Day coverage so far this avo is pathetically thinly veiled anti-Brexit banter at every opportunity. For fucks sake drop it for five minutes. Apparently WW2 has nothing to do with fighting Nazism or Germany it's about nations coming together to fight a nameless foe ( if they can avoid saying Germany as much as possible.)

BBCcoverage of D-Day has now calmed down as veterans and newsreels are speaking. Film score link: the band isplaying a variety such as Saving Private Ryan and Atonement and some other stuff I don't recognise but others might.

Yup, agreed. What's the issue with them both, Jim?

I know you aren't alone in your view about the film. Lukas has been critical of it, for example: "I can't think of any circumstance where I would want to watch A View to a Kill again."

Back on topic, this is the story of the day.

Personally I don't agree, Diego. But I bet everyone on this thread would love to have him in charge of Utd.

I have no issue with AVTAK. In fact, I love it. I adored the film as a kid and do so today. In fact, AVTAK is probably the film that I associate most with the end of my childhood days, which was a happy time for me. I commented on xebec's 7/10 rating of it, which is the source of my giving the dear boy Hell about said rating at every opportunity. What's that called? "Taking the piss"?

On the subject of Bolton, this Friday is the deadline for bids to be submitted to buy the club.

God almighty, I can only hope it ends well. Probably won't. This shilly-shallying about with an awful owner can't continue. We have to quickly sort ourselves out, dump the manager and see what we can do with our current 7 man squad. Half of which I'd gladly see gone. But how could we hope to attract anyone? Even with a new owner and I hope no issues paying players and staff. I'm pretty sure I'll never have heard of any of our players before, and I'm not looking forward to seeing a squad of 30+ year old failures.

I've commented elsewhere recently that UK media barely mentions the issues that Europe has, preferring to pretend that everything in the European garden is rosy and the UK is deep in a huge pile of shit. I have to get my European news from Japan's NHK channel; I know others use Al Jazeera.

It's much like Sky Sports news suddenly forgetting about Thierry Henry's handball antics against Ireland when they took him on (mercifully briefly) as a correspondent.

Thanks for that! It reminds me, however, of a seminar I went to a few years ago where Charlie Faulkner was speaking and got heckled for some decision he'd made whilst in government. He deflected it by turning it into a joke, just as Henry did with his wobbly lip. I didn't think any better of Faulkner, nor of Henry, for that.

But I appreciate the effort smile It would have been much better if an Irish fan had been put on air to discuss it...

Just watched Charge of the light brigade again. There's a brilliant quote in the film by Raglan (Gielgud) just before the charge: "It will be a sad day for England when her armies are officered by men who know too well what they are doing- it smacks of murder."i.e. men like Nolan.

Made me think of BWFC.
