Yes, Last Child, films do disappear from streaming services all the time.
9 times out of 10, due to a lapsed licence or maybe a lack of viewer interest.
But why should a Hollywood classic (and still THE most successful film EVER MADE) be taken down because ONE PERSON (a NomBody, to quote my 3 year old grand child) decided he didn't like it's dated/old fashioned techniques!!
THAT'S a slippery slope, my friend.

And Oct might be onto something with his 'political machinations' theory.
That's some serious sabre rattling going on right there!
Ain't nothin' gonna get you noticed better than some FREE THE PEOPLE!!/LET'S LIBERATE!! shout outs!
And his Delusions Of Grandeur will help him fit in nicely with all those other self-serving bar stewards.

Film studios are not in the business of historic preservation. They are in the business of making films and making money off of the films.

They have every right to delete things from the catalog for any reason they want, whether we like it or not.

They're not in the business to be our moral compass and decide whats good for us today or for tomorrow. They're in the business to produce a product and let the customer decide if they want to see it.

Its all dog whittles and fake activism by hypocrites who enjoy their smart phones and clothing made by slave labor around the world.

If they own the product, they have every right to not show you what they don't want you to see. They can delete things from the catalog at their whim. If they want to be your "moral compass" based on the films they offer you, they shall be. Like it or not.

I don't like it and I'll continue to complain about it. I have that right as a consumer and that's how you affect change. Works both ways. wink

You are correct! And I doubt that a film studio is going to cave to the pressure of the last hundred people on the planet who remember this relic.

I want Ford to reissue the 1965 Mustang, but they are not listening to me. And I bet there is greater demand for a '65 Mustang than there is for "Gone with the Wind."

Thing is, like it or not these are the actions of a misguided minority either believing they're doing something good or making a calculated move for personal gain. The few should not dictate to the masses.

Where is it written that every book, record, or film shall remain in the catalog? The rights owners have every right to sell or not sell their product.

If there were huge demand for "Gone with the Wind," they would reissue it. Fact is, no one cares about "Gone with the Wind" anymore.

Supply and demand, baby.

Yes, & we have every right to comment on that decision. And I really don't give a damn, anyone who want's it can buy the Blu-ray, I have the 70th anniversary edition with all the extras, but I doubt if I'll every look at it again, nothing to do with the racism, it's more that it's a bit of a stretch, esp. the boring second half.

Completely agree, but there are not enough people who care.

I see they've all been pulled on Amazon. Go to any Amazon & it states, Currently unavailable (it was available on Amazon UK yesterday). These are some strange old times we're living through.

Maybe I missed it but I don't remember any fuss over the character Pappa Lazeroo Frome the league of gentle men.

First thing I thought when I read about Little Britain. Think it's also the reason why The Goodies aren't repeated.

I have a room full of LPs, hundreds of which have never crossed over into the digital realm. I shed no tears over "Gone with the Wind." The reasons behind the deletions don't make the deletions any better or worse.

On the bright side, you can go to the Herman Miller website and still buy classic Eames and George Nelson designs.

Gotta take the good with the bad.
