Regarding Jaws III, I haven't seen this movie in ages but it is funny how outspoken gay themed movies have gone by me without me making that connection; I saw Nightmare 2 Freddy's Revenge as a teenager and while the SM bar & shower scene was a giveaway, I just saw it as a typical sequel without any of that innuendo. Same for the X-men movies, while seeing the last one, I forgot how much of their struggle is modeled after the gay movement (and read that is why Ian McKellen took the job). When I found out Clive Barker was gay, suddenly there is a whole new context to some of his movies as well, Hellraiser but in particular Nightbreed (also a struggle of 'mutants' and a man running from his girlfriend to join them - yes, I did not catch this on first viewing lol). I guess there was a whole generation of metal fans as well who were oblivious to this and just saw that diversity as part of a general countermovement that was 'different' and could relate to it in such a way.

I remember reading how NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST. II had a gay subtext, with the male protagonist afraid of his own gay identity, symbolized by Freddie. Saw the movie after reading that; well, maybe, maybe not. Maybe it's just a slasher movie trying to find new gimmicks.

Never saw JAWS III. When I heard that the main character was the police chief's wife battling the shark, I shook my head in disbelief and just never bothered any further with it.

I haven't seen JAWS III, but NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2 if full of homosexual innuendos that I didn't catch as a kid but are totally obvious now.

I actually find JAWS 4 far superior to JAWS 3D

Well, it is a little better - in the sense that being kicked in the butt is preferable to being kicked in the crotch. (At least Universal didn't farm it out to Alan Landsburg Productions...)

Interesting how it's the only movie of the series to have a guy in the main non-Freddy role.

That was the fourth one - the third one had Mike working at Sea World...

Come On. There are so many better gay subtext movies:

The Lost Boys (1987)
Michael follows Star back to the vampires’ lair, where the leader of the pack, David, tricks Michael into swallowing some of his bodily fluids. Or maybe it’s not a trick, and Michael is just so impressed at having been invited over to Jack Bauer’s house that he does it voluntarily. Corey Haims character Sam is so gay. He has a "dreamy" Rob Lowe poster on his bedroom wall, plus his wardrobe, etc.

Best Quote: “My blood is in your veins!”

The Covenant (2006)
Caleb is the leader of a gang of “undercover” male witches who spend a lot of time showering together. He is obsessively targeted by a mysterious stranger, Chase, the new kid at their exclusive private school. We don’t want to read too much into the fact that the school’s female students are featured mostly as blurry, indistinct figures in the background. Why read anything at all when we have an all-male naked locker room fight scene to watch?

Best quote: “How about I make you my wi-atch?”

The Forsaken (2001)
Young man befriends vampire, ignores attractive woman for 90 minutes.

Best quote: “I need all he muscle I can get!”

Jeepers Creepers II (2003)
It makes sense that a man-eating monster might eat the occasional half-naked teenage boy. But when it’s all he eats, the other monsters might start asking questions.

Best Quote: ”Thinking you’re going to come onto me and every other swinging dick on this bus makes me nervous!”

And of course: A Nightmare on Elm Street II: Freddy’s Revenge (1985)
Freddy Krueger spends an entire movie trying to get into a young man’s body. Young Jesse, who has just moved with his family into a house on Elm Street, is suffering from intense dreams that make him wake up shirtless and sweaty, often times not wearing pants.

And all the "Twilight" movies.

Never mind jaws 3, I thought the shark in the original Jaws waz a bit gay, well, it waz very bendy.

Sort of expected it to pop out of the water and in his best Kenneth williams voice, say: "ooh hello, hes gotta big boat hasnt he!"

Is Jaws 3 a gay movie?

No, but this board seems to be getting gayer and gayer.

I have to agree. There has been a major shift and if it gets any worst, I will have to leave this board. I do not look at this side of the board very often and threads like this one are the reason.

AGREED!

Your honor, and members of the committee, because the honored member Montana Dave is now able to re-join the courtroom, the prosecution would like to resume this trial to present the following exhibits.

As a reminder, these are in presented in support of the plaintiff's contention that the 1983 Universal International motion picture JAWS 3 should be submitted for consideration by the MP-FSM system for a rating of TG*.

*Totally Gay

Exhibit 1:

At the beginning of this film, this character that has been barely seen from the front is hereby displayed in the manner by which it displayed here:

Perhaps innocuous, yes, but as evidenced by the evidence that follows, we hope you will agree that a trend has been initially initiated.

****
Exhibit 2:

Two characters this time, your honor, twice as many exemplary examples.

***

Exhibits 3a and 3b:

The escalation has been broadened to include other-body-uncoverings,

which includes "wrassling,” entirely non-female.

****
Exhibits 4a and 4b.

Because this is the leading man that is being extruded, the presentation has been amplified by several orders of box office magnitude.

***

And these, esteemed jury members, are just the specific instances mentioned by the original post.

FURTHER instances in these first 40 minutes of the film were spotted, including:

-Shave and oiled pecs

-3 pairs of short-shorts, simultaneously.

Additionally, the above mentioned pecs and one of the short-shorts contain MOUSTACHES!

***

And finally, the prosecution must submit the final and most conclusive evidence:

Gay pride flags

The "gayest" movie ever made must be A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST: PART 2. I have no idea why I never noticed it, have enjoyed the movie for years, but recently saw the A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST: THE INSDIE STORY on A&E and they had a whole segment that broke the film down as being, pretty much, black and white, "gay." I must admit, it is certainly gay on many levels, but just not blatantly so (at least to me it wasn't... till now, that is.)

Is Jaws 3 a gay movie?

What a deceit. One can take frame captures of men's backsides from any film and post them in a new context so that the meaning of the image is changed. A film about sharks necessarily takes place on the water, which in turn necessitates swimsuits, which in turn necessitates hiring actors and background extras who are physically fit and attractive. Personally my eye is on the girls in this film, and they are beauties. That doesn't make it a lesbian film for women in the audience.
