One I recall is Suzanne Vega's song of family abuse, "My Name Is Luka" that remains melodically upbeat throughout but relates a heartbreaking situation.
Phelps, you are AWESOME. I freakin' love that song, and I'd totally forgotten about it, but the chorus always hits me in the chest like that feeling you get when you learn that someone you know has passed away. It's one of those songs that evokes thoughts of past regrets, hopes for the future, the impermanence of our existence, etc. Powerful stuff.

Glad to be a service, Josh-O. "Overkill" has a few personal associations for me, but I won't bore you lads with my tales of woe.
I'd also count another song from the album as an upbeat song with downbeat lyrics.
"It's a Mistake" (dig the "Eagle Force" figures at the beginning!)
