In recent decades, particularly after AIDS killed off a lot of gay men, I've noticed a, you'll pardon the expression, rise in the numbers of straight guys who enjoy film scores. However, interestingly, they're more interested in action scores than in the romances and dramas which dominated film music in the Golden Age.
The decimation of gay men in the late-1980s opened the door for female fashion designers, who until that time couldn't even get arrested. But straight men obviously didn't have to wait for an opening to get into film music, so maybe there was some coincidental timing. Like, STAR WARS came along and a wave of young men got exposed to JW.

Now I´m feeling very emberassed for starting this post in the first place. If I would have searched for the word "gay" in the beginning I wouldn´t have started this thread. I just did search and was baffled, completely baffled by the numerous results.

Personally, I don't think the warning posted in the link above applies to this thread. I think it might only apply to you in the future if you asked this question and similar ones ad nauseum.

Lots of gay collectors, lots of straight ones, too. A smaller number of women (gay or straight). We have nice people, funny people, angry people, and complete douches. Plus one or two folks I would classify under "real piece of work." In short, we are the world.
