Very well made.
Brilliant footage of the u boat and the men walking on it.

"...the original film's plot ends in December 1941, the series' setting takes place nine months later, in 1942. The storyline is split into two narratives, one based on land around the French resistance, the other set around a German U-boat crew.

The submarine used in filming the series was the non-diving replica built in Malta as the 'modified' S-33 for the film U-571, also shot in Malta. Footage, sets and models from that movie have been reused for other productions.

The replica is still afloat, moored at Cassar ship repair yard, Marsa in the inner part of the Grand Harbour. A special rig was built for the production by a Maltese armoury team, that allowed the submarine's anti-aircraft gun to both fire and recoil, something not done before with a blank-firing gun."

Oh flip, i hadn't realised it was a new series, i thought you were talking about the old series the original film was distilled down to. Ta for the heads up.

I finished the second season of Rome last night, & I know it's not supposed to be as good as the first, but I enjoyed it very much. A great series.

I enjoyed Rome too.
It wasnt meant to be i claudius but it had its moments.

Another chalk up plus for Das Boot series - it has a proper genuine german half track, not an american halftrack plated over with a german cross on it, like every 60s n 70s war movie! And it has proper Kubelwagons!

I finished the third season of True Detective. The first episode hooks you in with a mystery and two rather interesting detectives. From there, this season is a character study, a long drawn out character study that once in a while alludes to the mystery. A viewer must have a lot of patience.

Season One of True Detective. Barely getting through it. Very dark and the detectives are WAAAY too dysfunctional/flawed for my tastes.

I lasted to the end.of TD3 joanie but the slowest series so far - even more than the early half of s1. S1 improved last 2-3 eps but s3 - not helped by about 5 timezones and back story - is painfully pedestrian.

Just finished season one of the BBC's KILLING EVE. It has 8 episodes. I thought the first half was really great. The last few episodes lost their edge and seemed rather silly. However, it hooked me enough that I want to see season 2. The villain is one crazy psychopath!

Just finished The Man in the High Castle series 3. It's still of high quality with surprises and twists but I enjoyed the first 2 seasons more. It's still great though.

I'd never even heard of this series, but reading something about it in the weekend, I think I'll give season one a try (I see that I can buy the Blu-ray locally for £10). There's so many great TV series' that it's easy to miss a few of them, esp. as I don't get Sky Atlantic (the channel that shows most of these series in the UK).
