Really? I find that hard to swallow.

I've found the odd hair in that. The Brazilian counterpart is generally safer in that respect, but occasionally seems artificially odourless, or at worst perfumed.

Imagine my surprise when this turned out to be fictitious. In other (but related) news, John Cleese’s surname would have been Cheese if his dad hadn’t changed it in a fit of embarrassment.

PS - Graham, big grin , but don’t

Mine is a special sharp cheddar that is made in Vermont each year and sold only at the Big E (Eastern States Exposition). My son and I have been known to go there strictly to buy this cheese. It is amazing. smile

As 95% of Canadian cheese still insists on being one molecule away from plastic, but with none of the flavour, i'll have to wait till i'm back in Blighty, and there's a cheese called Blacksticks Blue, which is effing ace.

I could have sworn you put cranberry blue Edam... red makes more sense, although as stated above fruit and cheese is something of an abomination.

Interesting - goats’ milk cheese with a line of vegetable ash through it. Worth a try, but I’ve never seen it In Sainsbury’s...

Anyone in the UK near a Lidl (I think that's everyone), starting today they have a lovely brie, Petit Brie, it comes in a little round wooden box, they get it in about four times a year & it sells out quite fast normally. It's lovely stuff, in fact a slice straight from the fridge still tastes nice, & it's only £2.49...& while you're in there, to go with the cheese if they've still got some, buy a bottle or two of Morgon red wine to go with it (cru du Beaujolais 2017) £7.99. The wine guy on Saturday Kitchen Live (BBC One) said it was the bargain of the year, I had a couple of glasses last night & it was lovely. Now returning this site back to the Americans

The nearest Lidl to my office is 3.1 miles. That's a 6.2 mile round trip, which I've just negotiated into the West Yorkshire settlement of Ossett. I returned with two Petit Bries and two bottles of the Morgon. I'll know who to blame if we don't thoroughly enjoy them...

Just wanted to confirm that the Lidl Petit Brie and wine are indeed very good deals. The wine is 13% and went down very gratefully, and the Brie is creamy, not the strongest I’ve ever tasted but a bargain for the money.

Good recommendations!
