I'm not familiar with that Asia album, but I'm really digging the cover art.

Sorry, no cover art, but yesterday before going to sleep I listened to Steely Dan’s second album, Countdown To Ecstasy & Cockney Rebel’s first, The Human Menagerie (very American followed by very English), & then had a very nice sleep & have just woken up.

Yeah, great cover art. It was one of the 100-ish LPs I got from my dad. Not something he's bought himself (he's more into classical and jazz), but something he got from a friend in the 90s, I suppose. It's all very power ballad style ("Heat of the Moment"-type things), with a pinch or two of prog rock. I like it.

I don't think so. The cover is so small, it's hard to make out what it says.

Ah. I have several Orbital albums, of course, but none of his solo albums.

It"s a varied, almost schizophrenic album. Some orchestral stuff, some songs with vocals and some electronica.

In looking over this thread, it amazes me what two aging Norwegians think of as "rock" and/or "popular" music!

Ha, ha...really? Are you referring to the electronic albums? It's true, they're neither rock nor popular music. But I mentioned in the first post that I wanted to include them as well.

I enjoy a lot of electronic music, especially ambient stuff; not so much industrial, though I suppose I like a little. I was just surprised to see so much electronica included.

My opinion is that all music that is not film music could be included in this thread.

I also like the back and forths which often occur in this Now Playing thread, as opposed to the one on the film music side which usually consists of nothing but the album covers.

Yes, as mentioned in the first post, the idea was to include EVERYTHING that is NOT classical and jazz, since those two genres were sufficiently covered by the other thread. That thread is fine (I like both classical and jazz), but also a bit frustrating because it was almost ONLY that, very rarely rock, pop, electronic, you-name-it. Air became a bit "stuffy" eventually.

I have a feeling those jazz and classical guys are not so intense these days...........

Not as good as 52ND STREET (none of his albums are), but pretty neat nonethless. Another vinyl found among the ones I got from my dad, this.

The Stranger is imo Joel's best album.
