I didn't realise until I read it a bit earlier that this afternoon is the Community Shield match. Is that not usually played on the Sunday? Anyway I have no interest in it.
Leeds dominated large chunks of the match but in the end nicked a 3 3 draw
Just when I thought Brendan Aaronson had won over the Elland Road crowd with a late equaliser, he misses an easier chance to win it with the last kick of the game. A rollercoaster of emotions in the last three minutes: resignation at losing thanks to a dodgy penalty, then elation with an equaliser; then disappointment not to have won.
Having hit the Portsmouth woodwork three times in the first six minutes, it was clearly going to be a wild game. I’m back at ER on Wednesday for the cup game with Boro.
Wonder if they’ll have some stock of the beautiful away shirt by then…
A curious situation this afternoon, in that Liverpool played two friendlies at Anfield. The first against Sevilla with a crowd, the second against Las Palmas behind closed doors. Two different starting lineups, with some of the subs for both matches. Seems a strange thing to do, so the new manager must be wanting more game time for the players not long back.
