Even after five years in Alberta, these rises in temperature from -22 C to +5 C in less than 12 hours are always entertaining.

We're in a calm moment in NYC as of 12 noon EST. I made it into work amidst a barrage of snow and sleet (with some really bad wind gusts) -- but accumulation so far isn't really bad. We're supposed to get another 5 inches before tomorrow morning -- but when I look at the radar it seems to me that the circular NEaster motion isn't happening and the storm is moving up and out. But I am not a meterologist -- nor did I sleep last night in Holiday Inn Express -- so here's a toast to more snow.

The bitter cold has actually been worst, for me, than the snow this year.

Edit: Just went out for a snack -- the City is slush hell. Snow turned to rain -- foot deep icky ice/snow/water at every street crossing. Sidewalks are treacherous. Yuck.

Just north of Charlotte, NC we have about 8 inches of snow since yesterday, and it's still coming down. Was at work yesterday when it started and closed the store around 2:30pm. My 20 minute drive home took about an hour.

No work today, waiting for the district manager to decide what we'll do in the morning. Normally I open the store at 9:00 am ( get there at 7:30, drive 20 miles to the bank to make the deposit, come back and open ) .

Gonna be a lousy paycheck next week.

This winter has killed my business so far. Between the record snowfall in January in Detroit and the sub zero temps and or wind chills(For those outside the US those temps are Fahrenheit), my clients are not showing for appointments which means no money....frown

It is lower 20's here, we will break 32 degrees early next week and may be as warm as 50 degrees next Friday.

It is dark.

Yeah, funny that. We get it over here too, during the night.

Very windy now, storms brewing, enormous waves destroying much of the coastline. Very wet too. The last dry day was December 28th. Many places down by the river are now under water. Not as bad as in the south of England though. Hope you're all OK over there!

Blimey Graham, I bet you didn't expect that when you jumped ship from Scotland to Spain!!!
We got blasted by some monster winds on Wednesday night (most of our fence panels in the back garden were tossed around like frisbees). It perked up a bit yesterday, but those howling winds are starting up again, if the banshee-like howls outside the 17th floor window of my work right now are to be believed frown

Dear Al Gore please send some global warming this way. smile

That's a pretty ignorant comment. If you want climate change, you got it.

Back on topic: pissing down. Probably. I haven't looked.

(

Yeah Kev. When I came here I'd forgotten that Spain is "quite big", and so the north would have a different climate from down south. Bloody annoying! But at least there are no beer-guzzling tourists. I do that on my own.

It's 2 a.m. here in Los Angeles, so it's dark, with very steady rain, and 58 degrees.

And it's STILL drizzling in Los Angeles, and still in the 58 degree area. Of course we need the rain, but we don't want so much that we get mudslides after our continuing draught.

Deep freeze up here in Calgary, -32 deg C last night, high of -21 deg C today. Couple of new record low temperatures out on the Prairies. Told people we'd have to pay for the warm weather in January...

And I heard people in LA got wet feet?
