Of course. We'll be here for a little bit time yet.

Meant some time in the future = hope you had a wonderful time and thanks.

Thanks so much for organizing the get together Thor! I had great time talking to everyone, and it was nice putting some faces to names. It isn't very often I can talk film scores with others. I am looking forward to the next event!

Seconded, Michael, and great that you finally made it!

Last night was fun. I apologize for the horrible rendition of the MULAN song towards the end there, but take it as a compliment -- I always tend to sing a bit at the end of a great party, for better or worse.

The quiz idea sounded neat in theory, but probably wasn't the best idea in real life.

As I said, the next Zoom meeting - if there is one - will be in late August. Meanwhile, let's continue posting in in this thread with updates about beverages and weekend activities now during the summer holidays!

Zoom
---------
Thanks for organising it once more, Thor. It was great fun. I'm actually glad (selfishly) that you couldn't get the music clips to work, because when you told us what they were I realised that I wouldn't have guessed any correctly. Also ashamed by my lack of knowledge in the photos part of the quiz. I only got Jerry Fielding. Didn't recognise the very young John Williams (how old was he in that photo?), or even Igor Stravinsky with Franz Waxman. What am I doing here?

Booze
----------
Now that they've pedestrianised the street where I live, the bars directly downstairs have the tables out, and the weather in the evening is so nice that it's so tempting to go out every night. Like now for example.

I haven't planned holidays this year. It'll be the first summer since I relocated that I won't be back to see my mum, but it's just too risky to do any travelling at the moment. Maybe for a shorter period of time later in the year. Let's see how things go. Still getting my country walks in, around the areas where we don't meet many people. Not that we're unsociable or anything!

Seeya around folks!

Zoom & Booze; that's our lives at the moment.

Didn't recognise the very young John Williams (how old was he in that photo?)

8 years old, so definitely tricky.

I'm kinda glad the music clips didn't work too, because I think a 10-minute quiz is the right length for a Zoom chat. More, and it kinda gets boring. We're there to chat and drink, after all, not to be tested.

Ahh crap! Serves me right for not checking the thread enough. Sorry to have missed this one. Hopefully see you in August.

Hey Thor, thanks again for hosting! Would you mind if I hosted any drinkers' chats between now and August? I will keep them at the same time.

I enjoyed Thor's rendition of Anthem from Chess. One for the cold war ages!

We missed you, Big Jim. We could crash Stephen's meetings with obnoxious drunkenness meanwhile. We might even persuade Stephen to sing some John Barry songs if he can't remember the lyrics to Mulan.

I had a most pleasant wine from the Mencía grape right now, at the street cafe. It's literally on my doorstep. No, I mean literally. Now I'm back upstairs and will crack my Mencía wine bottle, with some olives and cheeses.

Are yooz drinking tonight? It's Sunday so it might be a "day off the booze" for many, but since my workload (and income) have been drastically reduced, every day is the same. Music, films, walks in the trees, street cafés, spending my dear wife's money. She's a darling she is.

I think it's your obligation, Onya. Thank you for offering.

Sure, Onya, knock yourself out! As Graham says, there's also Stephen's meetings, which I assume will run continously throughout the summer; but I realize that's a somewhat different atmosphere.

So, are Stephen's meetings a bit like University Challenge, and Thor's are more like Bullseye or Blankety Blank?

Well, they're not quizzes Kev, but just off the top of my head I'd say that Stephen's are more "Panorama" and Thor's more "Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club".

What makes the drinkers' chats so good is that we don't bore each other with talk of film music.

I'll be there but not right at the start. Gotta do my hair. But in all seriousness, it's fun because they bring out lurkers like I am. Stephen's are great, too.
