Dan the Man?

Banned!

Oh, wow, what was he banned for

For generally trolling and creating a ruckus. I think he was told to cut it out by the mods but got banned for challenging them instead of heeding their words. If I'm wrong I apologize, my memory isn't what it used to be.

Hey, whatever happened to that self-employed attorney Gary S., who'd often mention that he had to wait until he could pay himself before buying whatever new release was being discussed?

Good question. I always enjoyed his posts, particularly in the "what are you reading" thread. I even picked up a few books based on his recommendations. I hope he is doing well.

Does anyone else remember SPQR? He had a wonderfully acerbic sense of humor that made existence almost worth floundering through.

I don't think dan the man was banned. He wasn't confrontational in the least, in fact he came over as being extremely polite ("Yes my friend, MR Marlin Skiles wrote a great score for that film, he was underrated, as we travel thru life, ha ha.")

He was just incredibly... unaware of social (board) norms. I seem to remember that he added to a thread ("Music to.... to") with "Music to Rape Women to".

I do and my aged cranium sez they were good people all around.

I'll see your Roma, Agent Phelps and raise you.....Willardcrum (sic?).
Vague recollections, leaning towards a raconteur, with a vast knowledge of Golden Age?

Call!
-Sean

P.s. I remember the above mentioned thread....dont believe I ever looked in, but....damn. The internet!

Thxs, but I still don't get what happened. I didn't read anything other than LC and all his posts are gone.

Whatever happened to Joe Esrey, one of FSM's great white knights? I didn't agree with a lot his beliefs, his taste in pop culture, or his love of disfiguring plastic surgery for women, but I still thought he was an erudite and thoughtful fellow.

My conspiracy theory? Shortly after he got married, his new bride took away the keys to the FSM Board.

Ha! This has morphed from misty-eyed recollections of sadly-vanished and sorely-missed members into why did that utter wanker who was a fucking menace leave?
Just enjoy the peace and be glad they're gone.

Indeed. Loved Joe. Your conspiracy theory sounds correct.

Whatever happened to Greg Espinoza aka riotengine? I once jokingly stated that he was Mr. Kidd to bruce marshall's Mr. Wint. Greg has (had?) a good sense of humor and an even-keeled fellow. I believe he and I even communicated off board on occasion.

Greg still haunts these parts but mainly only posts to update his sale thread in the trading post. I was lucky enough to catch him at his booth in Artists' Alley at San Diego Comic Con this summer, and he drew a sketch for me in one of his books, "Pug," published by Image Comics (for anyone unawares, Greg is an amazingly talented comic book artist). https://www.amazon.com/Pug-Derek-McCulloch/dp/1607060663
