.....I've just returned from an extreme makeover in a Norwegian reality series I'm participating in this fall (that should pike your curiousity, eh?....but I'm not sure I should reveal any more details just yet), and I'm hitting downtown now.....

You'll have to post details and pictures of your new "look" when you are able.

I hope the new makeover wasn't so extreme that we'll have to call you THORA from now on.....

Slovenia is playing Norway in the World Cup qualifications

That must have been a rollercoaster of a game! It'll be hard to overtake Italy, I expect, but I gather that the two highest points-scoring second-placed teams also qualify automatically, with the others playing off against each other.

The USA also qualified yesterday by beating Mexico. Obviously there are other things going on there just now, but I wonder if many of them noticed.

England scraped a win against Wales, and play Northern Ireland midweek. On paper we should stroll both games, but it was always difficult to play against other British teams at international level - they always raise their game against England. It's their World Cup Final!

Yeah, the match (which we won 3-2) was a blast yesterday! When Gamst Pedersen made that perfect lob over the Slovenian keeper at 92 minutes, the roof lifted in the sports pub.

On wednesday, Norway is playing Scotland here in Oslo, and I will be at Ullevål to see the match!

Well, not exactly a picture after my new look, but a picture from the self-same reality series I'm in. That's me in a football suit, and the man on my right is my coach - legendary football keeper Erik Thorstvedt, who has almost 100 national games and played for clubs such as Tottenham and Borussia Mönchengladbach. smile

Erik the Viking!

I used to take clients to Spurs for corporate "entertainment", and saw alot of him in goal.

Apparently, Paul "Gazza" Gascoine used to call him The Mask, alleging that he was so ugly he'd scare the children without one.

I always thought that was a bit harsh. But amusing. Good keeper, though.

Well, the two were both famous for their jokes, so I would indeed take that with a grain of salt (Gascoigne ain't no Pin Up beauty either). Furthermore, Thorstvedt is often characterized as a sexy dude over here. He certainly likes to keep in shape, unlike Gazza. Have you seen his daughter, the 18-year-old new host for MTV Norway? You don't look like this if you don't have good genes, you know..... smile:

mmmmmmmmm.....niiiiiiiiice!big grin I like Norwegian girls and Norwegian girls like me, my girlfriend has banned me from going to Norway foreverwink

Poor old Gazza is a total wreck now, it's hard to feel pity for a drunken wife beater but part of me does feel for his plight.

Anywayzzz....it's nearing Friday night and a need for lquid refreshment is on the cards.

To you all.....CHEERS!smile

The first episode of the reality series that Thor participates in, "Heia, Tufte!" ("Go, Tufte!") was aired last Monday.

Way to go, Thor! I was quite surprised to see you in it, because although I know you've mentioned your participation in a reality series, I had no idea this was it. I sat down to watch primarily because I've read some of the pre-release hype and it seemed like a fun concept - namely that a group of... well, nerds, who, um... haven't given top priority to physical exercise or active sports, are to be trained as a soccer team. Their coach is Thorstvedt, and in the final episode there will be a match between Tufte (as the team is called) and Vålerenga, one of Norway's Premier League teams.

I must say, though, that Thor seems to be the least nerdy and probably best-trained of the bunch - he's even played soccer before!

It looks like there's going to be a 'Lifestyles of the Nerds' wink segment in each episode. So, Thor... any chance we'll see your film music collection on TV soon?

Well, Timmer, on Friday night you could have seen Thor SING on TV! He and the rest of the Tufte team were guests on Norway's most popular talk show, "Først og sist". The show ended with the team performing their theme (team?) song, and Thor started it all with the lead vocals on the first verse.

Nice perfomance, Thor! smile

Why thanks, Nils, but my singing was awfully off-tune, at least in the beginning. I had a cold and also didn't hear what pitch the song was in. Watch out for the music video!

And YES, they've made a segment about me where I show them my film music collection. But it won't premiere untill one of the last episodes.

This is a lot of fun and I've begun to hand out autographs left and right, but I make sure not to become any sort of "national nerd". Also, reality celebrities usually last only two or three months after the show finishes, so I've got nothing to worry about....*knock on wood*

I think reality TV is a plague upon this earth but this particular show is very good-spirited and fun, and lacks the speculative cynicism of other shows. Just a feel-good type of thing

Indeed it is. No one is voted off. No one is victim to cynical conspiracies. No one is made a fool of (even though many of the participants aren't very adept at football). It just has to be seen to be believed. In fact, many label this not as a reality series but more as a "docu-soap".

Well, if I were to sing before a million people, I would have been a drooling vegetable, so what you did sure was impressive to me! wink

Cool that people are asking for your autograph!

Exactly, Jostein, that's just why I like this show too - it's about people working together to reach a common goal, not about plotting against fellow participants to get them off the show, which I find completely uninteresting.

I 100% agree with you Chris, "reality" TV is a bane on our society which has got even worse (and more popular?) with the inclusion of so called 'Celebrity' reality shows, they should be called 'Z'ellebrities!

I too would watch the Norwegian show just to see our Thorsmile
