Over choreographed action sequences. I love exciting action scenes but today I just roll my eyes and yawn they're so over the top. Not only are the sequences impossible, they're so over designed they look like "dance competitions". Most guilty are the Avengers movies. But just about any other action film are the same like John Wick. Pointed! As bad as those horrid " bar room brawls" from old tv westerns! Its all money shots and no foreplay. What makes classic action sequences exciting was setting the scene and build up. Also there was a sense someone could be injured or killed. There's no sense of threat or danger anymore. Batman vs. Bane. Doing it the right way! Not much else , lately

Bank robbers make everyone lie on the floor. They.just want the.money, no killing. But, the minimum wage security guard ( or bank manager) decide to risk their lives by trying to stop them- and are killed! Just saw this again. The bank clerk comes running out of the bank into the street! Bang! He's dead. Idiot!

A game of chance - you name it, the protagonist always wins, especially if they're a secret agent. Blackjack - The hero and the villain could both have 20. The hero can hit and draw an Ace. Poker - The hero will have a better hand every time, or will successfully bluff. Craps - The hero will always roll whatever number they want. So, my question, if the hero is so good at games of chance, why don't they do that for a living and become super rich? How about the villain has a full house. He reaches for the pot: " Not so fast. I have two pair" "Two pair doesn't beat a full house!? " Two aces and two aces" Ughh

Martial artists can do some amazing feats. Bruce Lee.once stood inches from another fighter and with just a short punch sent.him flying ( I think the story is on the ENTER THE DRAGON supp). Not to say some thug could perform. like that! The one inch punch is not that unbelieveable as it seems, and it won't get you out of a coffin. The o.i. punch is more a push than a punch, and it´s made in an upwards angle. My instructor showed me, and we did it ourselves. You definitely will send people flying (mostly because of the angle) but it is not well suited as a means of breaking because the moment of contact is stretched out too long. For breaking you want to have immediate energy transfer and long contact blunts that spike. D.S. The Disco Sensei
